Day date opinions
I’ve been working my way “up” to either a day date 40 or dd i I.
Is this an everyday watch for some? I have considered also a rose gold sky dweller, but I like the simplicity of the day date. To me, the day date 40 looks small, but I do have small wrists. This is entering Patek calendar territory, but I really believe the bracelet of the day date is beautiful. Does anyone here have feedback regarding the bracelet of the day date 2 vs 40.. are the bracelets different? I’ve watched a few video comparisons of the two, but the bracelet isn’t mentioned. The 40, preowned, seems to sell for less than the II. I think I’d buy the white dial, Roman numeral yellow gold day date..I’d end up trading in a rolex or two to do so, but that’s another discussion. I have today a Pepsi GMT, two tone blue sub (which I’ve come to love), a deep blue, a 1973 air king, an explorer 1... and a Patek Calatrava.. the Calatrava and blue two tone sub will never be sold. As a matter of fact, the Patek is a key reason I’ve not bought the day date yet. I’ve worn , in stores, both the 2 and the 40–both fit well. I can’t afford the platinum personally. Are there day date owners that care to weigh in about wearing this piece? |

The DD40 hits the sweet spot for me...and absolutely works as a daily wearer.

not a fan of the dd2. the shape of the case is just weird looking to me. also if you have small wrists the dd40 would fit a lot better
it'll definitely work as a daily if you're comfortable wearing yg every day |

Not a fan. The day function is basically worthless to me. If I go PM, it'll be PT Sky, if ever released.

DD is an absolute daily wearer. I would look at the 36mm though. The 40mm has a ton of presence which is fine if that is what you are looking for..... Otherwise the 36mm takes it down a notch if that is possible for an all gold watch.

I like the DD40 much better. You get an updated movement and enhancement to bracelet to prevent stretch.

Have you thought of trading everything for the platinum, if that is something you want? I'm kinda thinking of doing that. But still haven't made up my mind on the 228206 and I don't want to trade in my GMT. What's the white dial on the DD40 like? Is it matte, shiny? Is it made of porcelain? Always been curious- for me it would be probably the YG with silver dial with romans- tried one on and the watch just glows. |

I thought all the current PMs had the addition of the ceramic sleeves? Any reference?

Just bought a RG DD a month ago. I love the watch and switch off between that and a YG Sub.

I just wish they’d release it in SS.
I can dream right? |

SS, PT, and WG are easily distinguishable by those of us seeking them. Wha the general public and tell, I don't really care. There is a PT and SS Daytona and WG and SS Sky. If more models were made in PM, Rolex profit would likely improve.

More like a nightmare.
Given the SS shortages, a) it will be impossible to find at retail like the pepsi b) the markup from the gray dealer will likely tempt SS buyers to spend a few thousand more to get all PM. |

It’s a tough call. The silver dial is beautiful... the champagne dial is old school . The White is regal. I’m unsure of material. The white day date 40 I saw in person was not matted. It was shiny and the yellow gold reflected light like the disco ball in dusk til dawn.
Platinum I’ve never seen in person. I just presume it’s out of reach. I really enjoy my submariner blue two tone so I have to,keep most of what I have. The platinum looks amazing in pictures and videos. I’m too insecure to get white gold, but I did look in person at a white gold blue dial and it was spectacular... you know what wasn’t.. the rose gold green dial dd... it was extremely difficult to read, even in light, for me. |

for a yg dd40 i'd probably go with silver romans. the sunburst dials really are something else. also the motif dials are very nice
white is clean but it feels like something is missing with a plain white dial |

No quick adjust, a non starter at this point. Particularly for a daily.
Can’t go back at this point. |

Day Date 40 for sure. I went and tried pretty much all the dial arrangements and I ended up with these 2. I also owned the Olive Green on RG but flipped that one.
YG get the Silver Motif Dial RG get the Chocolate Dial |

The DD40 is great proportions for smaller wrists. As far as a daily wearer...sure, as long as you’re comfortable wearing YG as a daily. I chose the silver motif dial for my YG DD40. I felt it to be a very versatile dial. Hard to go wrong in any configuration with this piece in YG.

DD2 allday, more size! More manly! More presence! More gold! Need i say more???
Preowned DD40 going for £20-23k Preowned DD2 start at £23.5k Not to mention it will only go up in value as its discontinued and will prob be the largest daydate rolex ever make! I dont get why any man would want less than a 40mm, i mean even girls ar wearing 40mm these days. I cant speak for anyone else but i sure as hell would not want a watch that is also suitable for women!! Whats wrong with fellas these days! The worlds gone crazy...you couldnt imagine a woman wearing a ap 15400 could you?? |
