New incoming (it’s here) & a question guys?.
I’ve wanted this one for a while & finally saw one in a as new condition that I’m happy with. So the trigger got pulled and this beauty below is now mine.
Question before pics though... I was told this is a 2007/2008 model serial (M) which was kept in a safe by a dealer until being sold in 2015 (warranty card has 2015 on it). Fair enough, that happens. It has had a recent service and I have full paperwork for that. So I’m happy it’s genuine but for my own piece of mind, I’d like to know what actual year it is. Another thing to confuse me. It has a blue lume... Pics :-

At 2015 Rolex use random serial numbers so the first letter says nothing and it looks fine to me.
Congrats.

Does the length mean anything Jocke?. Mine is 8 characters long, starting with a M.

In 2005 they start put the serial number at the rehaut and in 2010 they start with random numbers and now with 8 characters. The old serial system start with a letter and 6 numbers. So your watch is definitive a random serial number watch and produced after 2010 so my guess is it's made in 2015 as the warranty card says. Those watches leave the AD very quick.

I assume the serial engraved on the rehaut matches the card, just to rule out any typos on the card itself? On an M serial, the serial characters on the rehaut are aligned between the tick marks. On a random they line up with the tick marks. |

Lovely reference!
As for the actual year there is no definitive answer. All depends when the case was stamped...a serial number could be made one year and sold years later depending on how popular it is. |

Thanks guys. I absolutely love it.
I just want to know for piece of mind, what year it is. Other than Rolex, who would know or could tell me based off my pics or if I took it in somewhere?. 2007/8 or 2015 I love it. It’s a classic beauty in my eyes and am happy either way. Just for curious as to the year, also for insurance purposes too .

According to the internet, the M serials are fall of 2007. Here’s the site I used...

Thanks buddy. I’d be happy with either year, I just need to know which it is for my insurance & my piece of mind. I don’t think 2007 had a blue lume though. I’m not sure if it’s had a dial change and a newer dial has been added later. Who knows..

Just use the date on the card for insurance purposes. My insurance doesn’t request a year, only reference number and serial number. My 116718 is a z serial sold in 2016. It has blue lume and the bracelet markings indicate a post-2011 manufacture. My understanding is that Rolex assigns the serial number at the time the case is manufactured. Generally cases seem to be aligned to watches on a FIFO basis in Rolex manufacturing, but I’ve found a few examples where the generally accepted year for the serial prefix seems off so it can happen... my advice is just enjoy it!

The lugs look rounded, perhaps polished. You might want to take a closer look. And those stickers with red stripes are not Rolex original

You have 033 on your clasp and in 2011 they start with 3 digit random code for the clasp. Before it was 2 letters and 1 number.

Thank you Jocke. Everything is pointing towards 2015, or definitely not a 2007 anyway.

The lugs look fine compared to the unpolished Daytona I'm staring at right now on my wrist. Congrats and enjoy your watch.
