Rolex AD just called, maybe a good thing ?

So a local AD just called me and said he had a milgauss come in with the green/blue tint face. Now I know this is not something that is super rare but I am thinking that is a good sign he called me about it ? I have not purchased from this AD before but told him about my collection, spent about 30 minutes with him as well getting to know him. Now I know he probably won’t be calling me if he gets something super rare in but I believe it is a good start for him to call me. It took me no longer than 10 seconds to respond to him about the watch. I made him aware I am ready to go at any time if he gets one in I want. I have a very flexible schedule. Could it possibly be a AD that sees potential future business in a customer as opposed to past sales? I will admit I am a very likeable guy in person regardless of what my wife and friends say. Haha

I realize it may not be a really popular watch but at the same time I have not seen a new one in stock around town. Cases are so empty right now at stores. Even 2nd hand stores

They want it out the door, so they are calling anyone that may be interested. But good you are on their radar

If you buy it, your chances of getting a second call for a more rare piece go up significantly.

That is what I was thinking at least I am on the radar. Crap happens so maybe I might be on the end of a call one day for a piece I really want I just stopped by last week for the first time. I walked straight to watches and said yes I’m here to pick up my super hero watches before the bad guys get here. He thought that was pretty funny which led to a 30 minute convo about watches and other things. He defiantly was not like the people at some of the other AD places I stopped.

Do you really want it? If not, save that money to buy what you really want in the gray market.

No I don’t want it. The face is kind of cool but other than That it doesn’t do anything for me.
I just like the fact I was called about a watch period. First call I have got after placing 6 inquired to local AD stores

I come at it from totally the other direction.

Don’t be led on by a phone call. It has already got you considering buying a watch you probably don’t want to leave a good impression with the salesman.

Milgauss is probably one of the least popular SS models, so they are looking for someone to shift it too.

Therefore whether it’s a good or bad thing you got a call for it, all depends on perspective.

It’s a good sign, but gets diluted by the internal politics between salespersons and management at that AD. For instance, if there are 5 salespersons, it’s great that you were in presence of mind for 1 of them, but can you be sure you weren’t the 60th caller and that the salesperson will be bumping you up the chain if another even more coveted piece comes in? I bought 5 Rolexes (inclusive of the wife’s DJ) with my local AD. I’m on the alleged “list” for the SS Pepsi. Have I even received a call to “hang in there” or some status of you’re not far off to get one. I’ve gotten only “crickets chirping”. So, there are a lot of variables that might seriously affect one’s consideration/standing with an AD, including, perhaps, the ADs frustration with the whole Rolex scarcity that takes its focus off of keeping customers happy, e.g. easier to sell some Pateks, non-sport Rolexes, Breitlings, IWC, JLC, etc. I imagine that ADs are spending more time concentrating on other watch sales because sport Rolex sales are considerably rarer.

Very true playinwittime. I was probably the 136th person they called. It was cool for me since it was the first call I have ever got. I know they will never call me about one of the pieces that I want but I did make sure they knew I was ready at any time and can be there within an hour 99 percent of the time. But I am sure most people on the list say the same thing
