SD 2005 F serial with lug holes ?

Found a 16600 SD at a dealer but I thought F serials should have no holes case ?

Is it possible an F serial could have lug holes ?

Cant find anything definitive in my searching ...

The transition from lug holes to solid sides should have been in the Y serials, right before F. I'm sure it's possible that a holes case got serialized as an F but it would be a rare bird.

Can you get photos of the case engravings? Perhaps there's more to the story.

Usually once you get into the high Y's (Y8 Y9) the case will have "no holes". To have an F with lug holes would be quite unique.

I had an F serial Sea Dweller. No case holes on mine.

F serials started from around september 2003 and many serials overlapped, from around 2002 end of Y serial into 2003 the non lugs holes started to make there appearance on most models.So its perfectly possible that many F serial watches will have lug holes, as around this time Rolex was producing around 9500000 units a year.

Wouldn't it be easier for you to just remove the bracelet and take a picture of the engraving between the lugs that shows the serial number and the lug (with hole through it)? Why all the mystery?

There's no mystery

I've seen a watch from an independent dealer and it's being advertised as F serial 2005 with lug holes, which rang a small alarm bell. Before I contacted him to negotiate I wanted advice of the good people here if this was a possible combination.
