SIHH 2019 potential new release by AP

So AP’s CEO has hinted a few times that an all new line is going to be announced next month at SIHH. I’ve been intrigued by what this line will represent for AP. On another AP forum, there have been pics posted of a recent patent filing by AP:

Then today I saw a teaser on AP’s website and it looks pretty similar to the patent filing pics. The first pic below is clearly referring to an octagonal shape sitting between two circles.

So it’s clearly a round watch with a shoutout to the octagon in the Royal Oak.

Three things are still not clear. (1) What metal AP will use for this. (2) What the dial/hands will look like. (3) If a new in-house chrono is being released with this line.

Their website says the next reveal is planned for January 7th.

I’m excited to see what direction AP is going to take with this line!

Interesting - thanks. The formatting seems a little tricky to follow on it.

To me it looks like AP takes on JLC Polaris collection...

I would love some sort of AP sport/dress in a price range below RO, but lug design on this one doesn't looks it will support steel bracelet...

Yeah, not the best formatting. They have an app as well which makes it a bit easier to navigate

Looks like a new movement from the movement image, could be the in house chrono. They took some of the RO elements (octagon) and flipped it inside out, its a circle with an octagon inside while the RO is an octagon with a circle inside.

Probably some chrono movement, similar to the F.Piguet 1185 (offset date) but buffed up to be more robust, and could be the future movement that we will see in offshores and 41mm chronos?

Just looked at the figs again - they’ve kept the octagonal mid case and sandwiched it between circular upper and lower cases. Hadn’t actually appreciated this from the first patent sketches I saw.

So yes brand new design - keep elements of Royal Oak and building it into something new.

This could look really great as the mid case seems to retain all the finishing hall marks of the RO bezel edge (fig 5&6)

I think the design application could match with the teaser an the AP homepage...it would make sense.
Looking forward for the 7th of January

Agreed. I think this idea will look really good if executed right

Looks just like a watch to me but don’t execute it until I have seen one.

in-house chrono movement on a smaller case to test the water, and to allow more time to roll out the current 41mm F.Piguet movement on the 41mm line.
and a 15500 for sure.

Yes quite possibly - sure it will be intelligently thought out by AP

Hope it doesn't look like the GP Laureato.

I think the face on view will be just round. The side view of the mid case will reveal the octagonal shape and respective finishes

Unlikely. The octagon in this new release seems to be sandwiched between a circular face and circular back.

I don’t think there’s much chance of that..... AP these days definitely prioritizes a more “in your face”/showy design language.

From the AP website desktop view, on the "Stay Updated" screen after you Crack the Code, the watch appears to have a side push button. I suspect it's a Chrono. You have to scroll to the bottom after you Crack to code to get to the "Stay Updated" screen - hope this makes sense.

I'm very excited to see this! I always felt that AP invested so much into the RO's and ROO's that they didn't full explore the potential of their other lines.. I really hope this will look awesome in person.
I'm also looking forward to the new in-house chrono movement. Its honestly about time! I wonder if the in-house movement will have similar dominions though, in terms of thickness hmm..

Dear god they need to move past the FP caliber with the 430 date. Please tell me that’s wrong.
