216570 Explorer II handset on 16570?
Ahoy all:
I have visited the threads about swapping out the 16570 red GMT hand for the newer orange 216570 GMT hand and have decided to do it since my 16570 is due for a service anyway. My watchmaker will not charge me extra to trim the orange hand and install it while it's in for service and also offered to replace it with the red hand at no additional cost down the road (otherwise quoted 50-75 USD). However, I was curious if anyone has seen a full hand swap done between these watches? In my opinion the orange hand looks like it goes with the 16570 version just fine, but by the looks of it the hour and minute hands on the 216570 are fatter which I imagine is to account for the larger dial and indices. If you haven't seen one done, let me know what you'd think. I don't want to have them swapped out any more than I have to and even if I decide later to swap the GMT hand out one less trip and disassembly of course is one less opportunity to mess something up. Thanks in advance. |
