New AP fan questions...
For years I’ve strictly stayed in the Rolex, Pam, Omega section of this website. I own a few Rolex, Pam, Omega and a Cartier. Recently have gotten the itch for an AP...specifically the Steel Offshore models.
As new AP fanboy, I have a few (silly) questions. Research will probably get me to the answers but I am hoping someone can put me out of my missery faster: 1) The watches I like (steel offshores) list at approx $21k on the AP site. Should I expect to get a discount at dealers? Is it common? 2) Are the new steel $21k APs hard to find, making the used or grey market models sell higher than MSRP? (Think Rolex BLRO, Hulk). Or is it fair to say I should always pay under MSRP. 3) Which steel models are more desirable, less desirable. 4) If you had $20k to spend on an AP offshore (new or used) which would you get? Million thanks! |

The 42mm SS bezel ROOs should be buyable for a small discount at ADs, altho they are getting tighter so greys/lightly used may be the best option now as they will fall in value. I'd go for the older Panda or Safari for a SS bezel, but if you are worried about scratches then the 2 new CE bezel models are best altho expect no discount on those.

When I was looking around at the new CE "vampire" model, i was quoted -500 under MSRP at London Jewelers in Manhasset.

ADs do give discount, normally 3-5% on 20k price range. See it more like a kind gesture.
For me I would definitely go for the new 26315ST!!! |

Unless you want only the Chrono version of a 42mm ROO, try a Diver.
With a <$20K budget you can easily go either AD or Grey. If you are located in Miami you have several locations to find and try both Chrono and Diver and see what feels/ looks best to you. |
