Hunting in Brazil

Hi team
I’m based in London but going to be spending lots of time in São Paulo, Rio and Natal. So far I’ve found next to no respectable second hand dealers so was hoping you could recommend some to me? I’m not even sure there are bargains to be had here but with a fairly terrible economic situation I’m hoping for a deal! (As bad as that sounds). Thanks in advance!

George

Rats, I thought this was going to be a "hunting with my Rolex" thread, not a "hunting for a Rolex" thread. :-)

Brazil. Crazy times! Not sure youll get a deal. I was watching the video of the dam break over and over this past week in Minas Gerais. If you are going to shop and hope for a deal go do it near Vale head quarters

2nd major disaster Vale has been named in recently. Hopefully some heads will roll and address safety and accountability within their operations.

Not the new CEO fault, he had it certified recently. The Question is ..did someone bribe someone. That be the smoking gun after the Petrobras scandals with project car wash.

For contrxt,...People tell me that the airline crash was 1-2mil reals per person...I hope thats not the case. Too little for lost of life.

The other problem is that iron ore mining is like 70% of minas gerais revenue stream.

But i hear the politicians are pretty pissed tho.

This is really sad. Especially after samarco

Really sad, yes 100% agree. It may not be the new CEOs fault, but a safety culture and accountability starts at the top. They will need to make the necessary changes to address the recent issues be it safety, governance, potential corruption etc. I’m sure as more details come out it will be a series of issues and institutional failures that led to this event occurring. Regardless, I really feel bad for the people impacted in the region.

Run from Brazil. Very expensive. You will get a Platona for 90 K euros when converting!

No chance, Brazil imposes very high taxes on imported goods.
