Platona as a daily?

I'd love to hear people's thoughts and experiences.

Absolutely doable! If you don’t have a problem with the weight or PCL‘s… It’s a great daily piece !

I wear mine in rotation with other watches so I guess it's not a true "daily". That said, i wear it like any other.....love it. Not sure if that answers your questions.

Definitely answers the question, thanks

I'm not thinking about it as an "only", but definitely as a "primary"

Do you swim with yours?

Several things to consider. 1) It is a great under the radar watch as a daily. 2) It wears better than gold as far as displaying scratches. As a matter of interest it also is polished back to original condition with much less material loss than gold (maybe less than SS as well). 3) I had planned on wearing mine as my primary but find it grabs almost all my wrist time.

I swim with mine about five days per week without concern at a half to 3/4 hour per swim. I use it for tracking my total time while I'm swimming. The pushers need to be screwed in while in the water.

Hey - looks like you got some of that pool water in your Daytona. Better send it in - not safe!

250g is my cut off point, so the Platona at 270-80g is probably not doable as a daily for me.

I agree, except my cut off is less than 200gms

Weight is certainly there but, literally, after a few minutes I don't notice it at all. It wears, feels and becomes like any other watch - and I wear it the same - don't baby it or abuse it - just like all my watches. Other than at AD's/watch shops, where they will notice and pay attention, it's just another shiny watch to be worn and enjoyed - AND INSURED. No regrets, good luck and post pictures when you join the club.

If I spent that kind of coin on a watch, you’d better believe I would get my money’s worth of wear out if it.

That's kind of my thought as well. It's like taking your new Ferrari and placing it in a car cocoon. Not me, I'm driving it!

When you're talking about a watch as a daily driver, it's not so much about the watch as it is how you wear it. The Platona is sturdy enough to take daily wear as long as you're not doing anything too extreme, like running the Spartan Race or Tough Mudder.

I wear mine every day, just like I did my DJ for the prior 30 years. The only two differences are that 1) I don’t wear it playing sports, and 2) I insure it.

I’d have to have a heck of a lot more money to own this and keep it in a safety deposit box 90.% of the time.

I find it’s very comfortable, very beautiful (to me), and outside of Rolex shops, no one knows what it is.

Although I don’t wear mine every day I’d say it is certainly up to the job if required.

I wear my watches in rotation, but if I don’t want to wear gold or need something to go just about anywhere, I choose the Daytona. The weight really is of no thought after wearing the watch a few times.

It’s easily done and a really wonderful looking watch in the daylight. But if $75K on your wrist is worrying, then make another choice.

I have seen pictures of people adding a Platona lookalike dial to a 116520. Not the way to go, though.
