I'm not sure if posting this link will work for all of you here:

I'm not a rabid sports fan and certainly not a Habs fan

This is pure class and it really got to me today.

Yeah that was a real class act, that poor kid losing his mom, and Price not only taking the time to speak with him but also to be fully engaged in that conversation. Hockey players are the best with their fans for the most part, they are almost always humble good people who care about their communities and neighbors!!

I agree with you Marc.
It seems that the guys who play the roughest sport demonstrate the biggest hearts.

It's moments like this I love the most with regards to sports. I'm glad he was able to have this happen after the tragic loss.

What a class act and genuinely touching moment.

My son-in-law played pro hockey, and many NHL players came to the wedding when he married my daughter. My youngest daughter has autism, and she doesn't warm up to people often. Jared Boll, one of the toughest enforcers in the NHL in the last decade, knew she was very shy, and he asked her to dance at the wedding dance. To our surprise, she was thrilled and danced, something we had never seen her do. Several times during the night, Jared came to our table and chatted with Ellen. He was such a kind gentleman. I'll never forget how he treated her with such kindness and gentleness.

Great video. Ice hockey really does seem to have a strong ethos of respecting fans.

Wow that was awesome.

Have to say that hockey has had to work hard to develop their fan base- in my experience having season tickets to baseball, football and hockey...nhl players are significantly more accessible. Organization goes out of its way in Tampa for the fans. My kids got signed sticks and shirts on their bdays (compliments of ticket agent). Player meets or coach “chalk talks” too.

So cool to see a tough hockey player be so compassionate with that young man losing his mom. Must have something in my eye, allergies or something...

Very cool. This stuff happens in hockey rinks around the league every day and the players go out to hospitals to cheer up kids as well as participating in other charity programs that each team has. Many players donate vast sums of money in their communities as well.

On the hockey sites you see this interaction with fans literally every day.

Also when a team wins the Stanley Cup every player gets the cup for a day. Wherever he wants in the world. And most go back to his home town and they hold charity events and pictures with the cup for the fans and the player.

It's a very fan appreciative sport.
