DavidSW and other respected sellers that are non-ADs

I'm almost ready to pull the trigger, but I was hoping for some feedback and information for peace of mind.
I have never purchased from a non-AD before, but everyone recommends DavidSW.

The new watches purchased from him are supposed to have full set with my name on the warranty card etc.
I'm just confused how this happens and how Rolex will honor this warranty if it is not from one of their authorized sellers??

Thanks in advance. Sorry if this has been addressed before but I couldn't find anything directly addressing this.

You can use search and find that info.
My understanding is the warranty FOLLOWS the watch.
The TS should give you an idea when the warranty was activated and you'd have the remainder of the warranty.
Chances are the warranty was activated by the AD where the grey seller purchased the watch. If you're still unsure on how it works, why not ask the TS?

Why don't you message him or call his store and ask?

Why buy from the corner lot if you can buy from the authorized dealer...?

Have you been into an AD recently? Your comment is actually humorous.

DavidSW is FAR from th corner lot. One, he used to manage, to my understanding, a rolex AD in the Caribbean islands. Two, he one of the most established trusted sellers out there. I have bought and sold from him with no issues. His quality for new pieces is just as good as AD.

Also - to note another thing. AD’s swipe their warranty cards in at time of purchase. I assume he has them swiped and authorized. The name, from what I understand, can be anything, so it makes sense he can add yours with no issues.

I can get 3 watches from a trusted seller vs 2 watches from an ad at the same price. That's why

That would depend on the watch, wouldn’t it? You could get two Daytonas for what he asks for one.

I purchased from DavidSW. Why? Availability. Cost was of secondary importance; I knew what I wanted, and it's not easy to get. (And it isn't a dive watch, even though I dive.)

I don't KNOW if this is what happened, but here is what sometimes happens...
-AD has a long relationship to a jewelry store (grey dealer)
-AD gives grey dealer chance to sell their inventory, keeps them informed when it changes. Gives them great deal on "stale and old" pieces
-Grey takes money from you, gives money to AD, tells them your name to put on paperwork and grey ships it to you

Or maybe this is what happened...
-Person has a long relationship with an AD. Buys LOTS of watches.
-Person walks into AD and buys the watch you want, says "leave the warranty card blank, and give me the warranty card; it's gonna be a gift."
-Because Person spends a million dollars a year with the salesperson, the salesperson says "well, OK!"
-Person is either a grey, or a buyer/trader for a grey

He's not -- he's talking about buying from an established seller with a stellar reputation. And quite possibly for a watch his AD doesn't have.

Op, if you want your own name on the warranty, you'll usually need to contact the seller and have them source the watch fresh. For the stuff on the website, expect someone else's name to be on it. And that's fine -- in the U.S. (and just about every other developed nation) the warranty follows the watch.

I've done business with:

DavidSW
Chase at Nashville Watch
Patrick at OCWG

All were flawless transactions. 2/3 had names on the card and one didn't.

I second these guys as well. Have purchased and sold to all three. Top shelf.

I’ve bought a lot from DSW, most had my name on warranty card. I’ve only sent one to RSC, but it wasn’t for warranty work. If was for a scratch which was my fault on the crystal. But, I sent a copy of my warranty card with it. No problems.

Have done a few deals with David, he is 100%!
It is almost like buying from an AD, even better.

Definitely make sure the watch was sourced from the USA. A different name on the warranty plus a non-USA watch may get some push back from the service center.

Curious. Why would a watch with a warranty card from a non-USA authorized dealer be of concern? I imagine some may come this way with XXX on the name.

I've bought two from DavidSW, I live in driving distance of their brick and mortar store and can attest it is a class act operation. My Rolex came with a blank warranty card, so I could if I wished put my name on it. I don't see the need as the warranty follows the watch so I never have. I can also attest that if you were to have a problem with a watch David stands by it all the way and takes care of it without hesitation.

DavidSW is reputable. Check with him on the warranty ... i would guess in some instances he may be able to get your name on the card, especially if the watch is new. Many times the watches are not new so the warranty card will have already been filled out with a different name on it. He has a website and a store front so you should be able to find out the details before you purchase.
