Incoming! JLC Reverso Classic Medium Duoface

Had the extraordinary privilege of purchasing a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso today, and I couldn’t be happier with the purchase!

I decided to move up from a two-watch roster to a more robust collection last year, and over that year, I have always wanted to add a Reverso. It’s just one of those icons that every serious collection should have, along with an Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch.

I love the Reverso’s versatility. Although it’s primarily known as a dress watch, it can trace its origins back to a very sporty past as a piece developed for polo players. I have worn it all day with a pair of jeans and a leather jacket, and with the included brown leather strap, it works perfectly. I will be picking a black leather strap soon, which I will put on whenever I am wearing a suit, or even a tux. It really can be a standalone watch in a one-piece collection.

Despite the high regard for this watch, I still feel that it is underrated. If JLC were privately owned, and if they limited production of the Reverso, I feel like the hype would be right up there with Rolex. The finishing is impeccable on both sides, and the inside of the caseback is gorgeous. The Art Deco styling is unlike anything I currently have, and it differentiates itself in many ways other than the fact that I have no other rectangular watches in the collection. It’s such an interesting watch.

My watch collection to this point has focused on Rolex and AP; I have to say that it was really nice to walk into an AD and walk out with the piece I wanted the same day.

Nice. That Casa strap really brings the whole thing up a notch.

Beautiful piece, the best, rather my favorite in the Reverso lineup. And I, too put on the black strap, really makes a difference. Hope you enjoy it.

Congratulations! I'm a big fan of JLC's watches, if not their service department, and this model in particular. I also agree with pretty much everything you wrote; it's an incredibly underpriced and versatile piece. Are you sure, however, that this isn't the large model, as it looks too large to be the medium model?

My mistake-it IS a large.
I think I was getting confused between large and grande, which is the size for the Grande date. It took me years to get the Starbucks sizes right, and now here we go again!

Is it Medium? It looks like a Large Reverso.

Beautiful watch! A real classic. Congrats!

Very nice! I have the same watch, love it.
Do you know why Starbucks calls it a latte? Because it costs a latte.

That’s stunning. I need a Reverso in my life.

Last weekend I met an elderly gent who was wearing a rose gold vintage Reverso and I got chatting with him. He was delighted I knew what it was. He had bought it in 1960 and wore it every single day of his life since. Wow.....

His had the case back on the flip side and I can’t stop thinking about it !

Thanks everyone! I’m really enjoying the Reverso on Day 3. It’s just so unique, and it definitely has a more classic feel to it than any of my other pieces.

I had a PP 5119r as my previous dress watch, and I didn’t feel comfortable enough to wear it except with a suit or tux. I ended up trading it as part of a deal for a blue SkyDweller.

This Reverso really hits the spot, though. Maybe not with shorts and a T-shirt. But you can step it up with a black leather strap with a suit or even tux, and sport the brown strap for khakis and a jacket, or even jeans. It really enhances the character of whatever I’m wearing.

Classy JLC goes with the classy 911 (or Cayenne). Congrats on the new watch. I love the Reversos, but I do not have one yet.

Huge congratulations!!

My next watch will likely be the medium (non duo face) I prefer a thinner case, so I'd happily have just the single face for it.

I've never considered a Reverso or any square or rectangle watch, in fact I specifically did not consider any... but I tried one at the prompting of the sales guy (was checking out the MUT date initially and he insisted I try the Reverso, he was right, I instantly loved it.. I should have bought it then and there (was at Heathrow between flights).

Edit: Wow... just saw this is an old thread... oops
