Show me your DD36 and your size..

I'm 6'4 240lbs.. looking for a YG DD and tried on both 36 and 40... both wear great but u decided... 36 is the more classic look and 40 is more sport look to me at least.. would love to know if any big guys out there wear a 36 and how it looks..

I’m not a big guy, only 5’7” and I owned a DJ36 and regretted it...felt so much more happier when I swapped it for the DJ41.

So when I was ready for my DD, I did try the 36 but the 40 was bang on.

We’re going to get a DD for my wife (considering the new Rainbow marker Dial) and she too tried a 40 just to make sure as she does wear a Daytona for a daily.

Everyone’s wrist sizes are different and I’ve got friends who are a lot bigger than me but they seem to pull off a 36mm so it’s whatever you feel comfortable with.

That's funny. I am 6'2" 240 and looking at the DD40. I agree with you that the 36 is *the* DD. On the flip side, I think that the 40 has the "latest and greatest" Rolex movement, and actually flies under the radar more, as counter intuitive as that sounds.

I’m not that big. 6.0 and 185 pounds

But I have pretty large wrists. 36mm looks v.small on a 7.25” wrist.

39mm is like a 36 on avg wrist - so despite my smaller size, depends more on the wrist.

Eg if you are heavy with muscle it depends on your wrist, but with fat, no offence to anyone, may look a little small ?

Show me your DD36 and your size..

6’0” (rounding up from 5’11.7”)
7.2”-7.3” wrist

DD36

DD40

The DD40 wears nearly as big as my Sub. If you want a DD for a more classic/dressy/timeless look and you’re getting yellow gold, I’d argue strongly against a DD40.

If you want it as a sporty/casual alternative to a gold Sub or GMT, then go DD40.

I solved the dilemma by having both. Yellow gold in the classic size, and platinum in the sporty size.

I agree with this! Yellow gold has more presence and holds its own at the classic 36mm size whereas white gold is sportier and works better at 40 - a good reason to get both colors and both sizes!

I have 6.5” wrists and find the 36mm size too small, not a good proportion on my wrists. The DD40 is just right for me, still a tad small, but much, much better than a 36.
I’d suggest you try on the 36 and have a long, long look in the mirror. Will be easier to arrive at a decision.

I think that looks huge, but I’m glad it works for you. It’s a shame that they made the dd 36 into a women’s watch now. I’d never wear the 40.

lugs are pretty much end to end on your wrist so i would say thats on the bigger side for a watch especially a day date...but all that matters is that you like it

nice watch too

Beautiful bigrustypig!

I have a small wrist but years of wearing in the range of 40mm have made my wrist preferring said size vs. the 36mm. But I have my eyes set on a 36mm YG Day Date in the future so I’ll update you. Good to hear from you!

Here’s my contribution to the DD40. Initially, I didn’t like the abbreviated Roman indices on the DD but along the way these have grown on me and have made a less cluttered Dial with a 3D effect. Lovely!

I like the DD 36mm, regardless of a persons size. Unless your eyes are bad.

Thanks guys, I keep trying them both on and really the 40 seems too much, 36 looks a little more not somin your face. It's also not going to be a daily wear, more for weekends and formal settings. Thanks

I am 5'9" 200 lbs w/ 7.75" wrist and I think the 36 fits perfectly. The true DD size!

I have a 7.5” wrist and my wife’s 36mm appears too feminine for me but that is only my opinion. Wear what you like. That’s all that matters

I like the 36mm for the classic size of this watch. Just because you can wear a 40 doesn't mean you have to or that it looks better or fits better. I won't go down the rathole of calling the DD a "dress watch" (it's not, IMO) but it also doesn't need to look like a Sub or GMT on your wrist either.

That being said, if I was in the market for one today I'd be awfully tempted by the DD40 for one reason - the deconstructed Roman numerals on some of the dial options. Those are my favorite hour markers for this watch. I think I could live with a RG olive dial DD40 instead of a classic YG 36...

I'm 6'4" 230lbs, 7.7 inch wrist, specifically went for the 36mm as it's the classic size, and even though it's ONLY 36mm lol (which is perfect IMO), the full YG blasts out, it is a beautiful watch in every respect, really love wearing it.

As far as size, 36mm is a "Goldilocks" choice, not to big, nor to small, and for a PM piece, is a nice balance IMO.

Here's my 1999 (A serial), 18238 YG, Day-Date, silver dial and sticks...great lume on this dial as well....just back from it's first service.

I am 6'4 and a 36 looks way too tiny on me. Too small, I got a 36 DJ for my wife and she is 5'5" and she loves that size on her.

I'm 6'5" and 7.8" flat wrists. Have not ever considered a 36....40mm is on the verge of being unacceptable for me.

There are some good looking wrist shots here but does anyone have any full arm and or arm torso shots of big guy with 36mm DD?

Yea, was hoping to see some full shots. I tried on36m at boutique and looked fine in their mirror, the 40 fit better but def felt more in your face.

This is one of those, "Groundhog Day" threads I realize.

There are lots of threads on this, as well as very tall movie and television stars, sports stars (basketball players) and many more of tall people, wide people, etc, wearing the classic DD 36mm with better photo's...use the search box and you'll find lots of shots with them on the wrist.

As always, comes down to what you like and personal preference....

I ordered a 36 mm Day Date because I was satisfied with the look of my 36mm Datejusts. I’m 6’4” and 267 pounds with a 7.75” wrist
