Rolex Daytona 16520 Repair Question

I have a 16520 that sustained some serious damage and is in the process of being repaired. Question is will Rolex repair/replace with current day parts or original parts to match from the factory?

The will put luminova dial hands and newer bezel on it...unless you have A serial or very late produced watch it came with tritium dial and hands

If it is from ~2007, it is a 116520, not a 16520.

It will be repaired with current replacement parts, not parts from a decade ago.

I’m inquisitive as to what is the “serious damage”. No bid deal, just being nosy

Well my dog for some reason grabbed it off my desk without me knowing. He proceeded to take it outside and drop it in the driveway. My wife left the house in the morning and ran over it without knowing. The repair estimate is $8,500, thanks goodness for insurance :)

If thats the repair price would be better to have a new watch, and has your insurance agreed on that repair price.??

Insurance paid it without hesitation. They wouldn't do the full replacement price.

Yeah, that’s quite a story. My lil guys take a passing interest in the watches but not sure they’d drag one off! 8.5k is some damage. Good luck

That story is both tragic and hilarious, quite a turn of events! Gotta love those four legged friends! I hope it works out for you and you get the watch back quickly!

I was ready to kill the dog but once i found out insurance would cover it I was a bit better. Im looking forward to getting it totally fixed up and back to new condition. I also make sure i dont leave it out on the desk anymore and put it in its proper spot :)

Thanks for revealing the somewhat embarrassing story. Despite your anguish about the watch, this story is worthy of a sticky, its just so incredibly bizarre and (sorry) funny. What a story to have in your repertoire at parties and public gatherings

I received the watch back last week. The watch looks just as good as the day I first got it! Debating weather to put it away or put it back on the wrist...
