Unusual home remedy

I heard about a strange home remedy while listening to NPR some time ago. If you are suffering from a bad cough (especially at night), rub some "Vick's Vapo-Rub" on the soles of the feet, cover with socks, and the cough will subside.

Well, both children have gotten colds in the past month, and each has had a lingering cough. It's usually really bothersome at night while they are trying to sleep.

Last night, poor Max just couldn't get comfortable, and he was keeping himself and his sister up by coughing. I applied some of that goo (as mentioned above) and I didn't hear a cough for the rest of the night. I have a similar story for Madeline from about 3 weeks ago.

I know this is a strange home remedy, but I thought I'd pass it along.

NPR? Cough? Vapor Rub? Socks? Strange remedy? What the hell are you talking about Coconut Maroon. Can I post about my wife's cough? Thanks, and I will try this tonight with my son who has had a cough for a week.

I just stuff a sock in each ear and I can't hear them coughing. Mom of the Year!

Seriously, Caroline, I will try that.

I read this as well and while it sounded ridiculous to me, my wife had a terrible cough she couldn't get rid of and was keeping her ( and me) awake at night. She tried this and it worked. Don't know why but I can't argue with the result.
