Which Rolex to bring on vacation?
SD4K, Old Batman or Hulk?
Will be travelling to NYC and onboard a cruise to Caribbean islands. SD4K is the least flashy piece, draw least attention. Good for swimming in the Caribbeans. Old Batman is shinny, the polished links catch eyeballs. Hulk is for the sea. For sure it looks great while sunbathing on cruise. Difficult choice though. Any thoughts? Thanks. I always advise that if you have to ask this question, you don't know enough about your destination to wear an expensive watch and you should therefore wear something nice, but inexpensive.
The difference between a nice, safe location and the pit of hell can be only a block or two and an ill-advised turn off the beaten path can be very costly.

you will be safe in nyc wearing anything, especially in the city (manhattan). obviously there are bad places but as a tourist you'll never be there, and i assume there's nothing to worry about on a cruise so i would just wear your fav piece

Leaving for Kauai today. Switched watches three times before catching an Uber for the airport.
On a Cruise go with flash. I like PM. If you’re out with the locals take a $29.99 special. |

All will work equally well. I’d take a Sub for the glidelock.

Simple answer ..
As you are unsure its time you went and bought another rolex.
One specifically reserved for your travels when you don't know what to wear. OIn a more serious nite. Either the SD4K or the batman for my choice. I usually travel with 2 watches ... A Sub date for the day whilst scuba diving and swimming etc and a patek Aquanaut for the evenings.

None of those are that flashy.. I’d probably bring the green sub. Let the dial do the work

The thing is that nowadays they don't have to be flashy, nor in most instances are the morons who steal these going to be selective about which model it is. They may just go for a watch and roll the dice as to what they get. If in doubt, just take something inexpensive - removes the worry and to some degree the risk.

I highly doubt you'll get mugged in NYC, especially in the nicer areas of Manhattan. Do yourself a favor & stay clear of Times Square. Take whichever one you like the best. I've only ever been to Honolulu in Hawaii & there were sketchier parts of that city (tons of crystal meth & homeless people) than in my native NY.
edit: Disregard the part about Hawaii. I read Caribbean & thought Hawaii... Tiredness... |

Which islands?
If you only want to take one, I would lean towards the hulk. |

You will not have a problem on any of these islands except for Haiti. I'm assuming Royal Caribbean?

I did this route many times, every one on board wearing Rolex watches, even in New York City, you will be fine. Enjoy

I will bring a G-shock as well. I guess it is better for wandering in San Juan and Labadee. Some comments above say I shouldn't leave the Rolex in the cabin safe. Is that really unsafe? Sent from my SM-G9550 using Tapatalk |

I never wear a Rolex to the caribbean. It’s a holiday, just wear a G-shock or so, it’s not worth getting mugged on your holiday.

Which Caribbean island? Cayman? I've worn my Daytona. St. Barts? Daytona. Barbados? Gshock. Jamaica? Estimate the time using the sun. I'm never going to put my family at risk simply to wear a fancy wristwatch. Know your destination and accessorize accordingly. If you decide on a Rolex, there may be ports where it's prudent to leave it in your cabin's safe.

Hulk. I feel it fits in perfectly with a cruise and Caribbean.
