Newbie Prep - AD's pricing and model waits

Hey folks -

Trying to be prepared as possible for our first purchase...ladies and mens, celebrating a mid life thing.

I'm a bit confused on the AD front...couple of questions if you'd be so inclined to help.

We're likely going to be looking at DateJust, Explorer I, maybe a couple of other options...generally 'basic' watches to keep MSRP under $10k per.

For those general types...

1. Whats the MSRP to AD actual? Typically at MSRP for volume watches like these?

2. I know its wildly variable, but generally are these types of watches more available?

3. IT seems that pricing on newer GM in these types of watches is pretty close to MSRP pricing and seems like if thats the case, AD purchases offer some advantages.

Would welcome any thoughts and any further perspectives you might share on how to further prep for the purchase. We've researched the AD's we're likely to use but will likely be traveling out of state for the purchase (sales TAX) and would like to be as ready as possible.

THANKS in advance!

Many ADs are not discounting any stainless steel models. For the watches you are looking for, maybe better to go grey.

For those models you can probably save a little by going gray. If you’re comfortable with it, no reason not to since it’ll save you the hassle of going out of state as well (most ship overnight or 2-day with no tax).

That said, most SS Rolex Professional models are difficult to source these days. Be sure to call the AD and check stock before you make a visit.

Good luck! Let us know what you pick up.

(Might as well include a pic fit good measure)

Second for the explorer. Hands down best sub 5-6k (grey dealer pricing) watch you can get into
Wears well on most sub 7.5” wrists
Sport/professional model with heritage
Easylink bracelet
Literally what’s not to love.

Explorer is now about 10% over MSRP for TS at least on DavidSW site. Ponycar 350 is a $50 over MSRP plus shipping cost. Those are the only BNIB with full set I could find quickly. DJ still has very slight discount.

Plenty of explorers with complete sets for under 6k searching on watch recon.
David had a complete mkii set for 6400 a few days ago.

You can find one at a TS at less than retail. Keep looking. I highly recommend the watch.
