1942 Panerai-Rolex Kampfschwimmer
Check this out... I can't read German but an interesting and rare piece. The dial is in an odd position (california dial)... maybe so you can read the time more easily when swimming or flying??
http://cgi.ebay.de/ROLEX-PANERAI-KAM...QQcmdZViewItem I'm sure it'll go for well above 20,000 euros. |

Well Al had a look in my Panerai/rolex books can find nothing like it.The only one thats comes close is this book scan, Rolex movement similar dial, but without the sub secs.A very rare watch and would expect to get asking price plus a lot more. But seems a bit strange to have such a rare watch on the bay.

Scan Egyptian Navy prototype same book. Another interest notice they used a Rolex portable device to test and calibrate the mechanical timers on the Italian Torpedoes a standard issue to submarine officers.

[QUOTE=padi56;87139]Sorry Al I meant John. That particular extract was from Panerai Historia from the depths of the sea by Giampiero Negretti. But that watch shown above in my scan, is in several other books I have.
Scan Egyptian Navy prototype same book. Now that is a sweet looking watch
