So I dropped off my Datejust at NYC RSC this morning...

And feeling naked promptly went around the corner to the Wempe boutique. Lots of Datejust, DD, Cellini, obviously no SS subs, etc, thought there was a yellow gold Sub. They did have a platinum DD that I almost pulled the trigger on, but then I wondered what horrible things my wife would do to me if I bought that. That dial though!

So I walked to the train, and on the way passed by Torneau, which happened to have a gold Daytona on OF that I kinda like. I've had it a whole 10 or so hours, and it's not singing to me yet. Should I have just gone for the DD? I'm half considering just going back and getting another DJ. I had a Daytona years ago always regretted selling it, now wondering if it's because I never liked it that much to begin with.

I was in the same situation as you at one point. I went into my AD looking at nothing specific but then I came across the Daytona on OF in rose with the chocolate dial. At the time it was a spontaneous purchase where I felt like I had to have it. Unfortunately it wasnt well worn and was sold shortly. I don't know why, it's a good looking watch but I didn't feel right spending that amount of money for something on a rubber band. I thoroughly enjoy my DJ and sub more than I ever have with the Daytona. I think it's just a me issue. Well eventually I sold it and bought a WG DD with a blue dial and have absolutely no regrets. I say go for the DD! It's truly an amazing watch to look at and own.

If they had a WG DD, I would have done it. If anyone had a SS sub I wouldn't even think about it. I think part of it was I haven't seen anything other than DJ, YG DD, and the occasional OP for what feels like years. I think this is quite literally the first time I've seen a Daytona in an AD since 2011ish.

I think it still won't let me post pics... I've been lurking for a decade, joined almost three years ago, but only have a single digit post count.

Sick. I feel you though. I just think it has to be a weekend watch. It is a special dial
