Which watch...

For my wife? She's a confident woman and woios probably wear equally well. I personally like the YM and it'll be unique but I'm concerned with depreciation. Hoping to see if anyone else compared the two.

YM two tone - $12,900

Or DJ 36mm two tone - $11,600

What does she like? It’s the only question that matters

Unfortunately I'm trying to surprise her and the only watch she wears is just a Michelle watch occasionally but I'm sure she'll wear more frequently if it's a Rolex :) I guess I'm trying to see if anyone or anyone's wife would prefer one over the other.

I just bought the DJ 36 for my wife, she loves it. She has a 31MM and a ladies Speedmaster as well. I think the jubilee is a better look for a gal than an oyster.

The bracelet also turns me off too. Don't know why they don't offer a jubilee version. The DJ is just so commonplace though - feels like she'd like being different than everyone. And the YM is a bit more versatile and still graceful. Would probably lose a loot of value after a few years but hopefully she'll keep it for a long time :)

DJ 36 ...winner .So many options on that model. If you can still find one with the super-jubilee bracelet ,grab it !!
My wife has two DJ36s and have tiny wrists.

The toughest Rolex not to show scratches is a DJ with super-jubilee(hidden clasp) and diamond bezel .It can only show scratches on the side of the case.

Super jubilee has a hidden clasp. The bracelet goes all the way around the wrist with a small crown on the underside. Looks great opposed to the newer version with the visible clasp.

What she likes matters that most! I think the YM is more feminine though

My wife prefers the DJ. However when she saw the variations within the range (dial, bezel) I feel it may be best if the surprise could be picking a watch and then viewing, purchasing in store. That way you can’t lose if selling at a later stage. If it’s her fav, then she won’t want to

I had a similar issue when I went to buy my wife her next Rolex and was set on the 37mm YM with Rhodium Dial (she’d just given birth to our son and the baby blue second hand felt meaningful to mark his birth). But I was concerned that she’d find it too big as she had always said anything bigger than her DJ 31 would feel too big.

Now she has that and also wears a Daytona so the concern about is no longer a concern!

I personally love the YM RG with Chocolate Dial and think it’s genuinely the only Sports watch in a mid size that’s available...so that gets my vote

DJ, for sure.
It ll go with anything, anytime.
YM is a sport watch!
Maybe let her choose since it is an important purchase. Let her try the watches.

Why are you even thinking of depreciation? You are buying a present for your wife not shares!

Personally I prefer the YM but the DJ is a safer bet for a woman. Can be worn with anything and on any occasion.

That Yacht-Master is pretty cool. Will your dealer let you present it as a gift to her, and then exchange it if she prefers the Date-Just?

My wife had that same yacht and liked it. She now just bought a tt blue sub several 40 mm GS ‘s and larger Seikos, and she has a slight wrist. They look good on her. I would recommend buying the 40MM version. She’s going to end up at that size anyway.

Ones a bit more sporty looking than the other. The right answer is to bring her to the AD and let her choose ... FWIW it may be neither

I prefer the YM between these two. This is too big of a purchase not to get it right and I would involve her and let her pick. There maybe something else she would prefer.

Does anyone have pictures of the watches in different clothes? I would have thought the YM would be more versatile but it seems that's not the case based on the feedback.

I prefer the YM but it is more sporty than the DJ.
