Thoughts on Casio G Shock Full Metal Square
Hey guys,
I’m buying a Casio GShock Full metal square as a fun watch, 0 f’s given watch to replace my Seiko Turtle. Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences with it, also, I’m between the Black and Silver version since the Gold may be a bit too shiny but maybe I can get one as well down the road. Any thoughts and enabling photos will be highly appreciated! Thanks! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Looks very cool, don’t really care for the Bluetooth, but I guess it helps justify the high price. Personally I like the very light simple G-Shocks best.
I would go for the Gold model, looks like a fun watch to wear. |

I got the gold one, thinking of it as a sort of novelty item, not really suiting my style or character, and didn’t expect it to get a lot of wrist time. I am surprised how much I like it and how often I wear it. Then I also got the black one, but don’t wear it at all.
If you are in the market for a black one you could consider the new patinated black version GMW-B5000V. In the phots it looks more interesting than the regular black. |

I recently picked up this one. For a square, this one has some weight to it even on the rubber strap. The backlight is great and the buttons are enlarged making it much easier to use. I got this one to try out the Bluetooth updating, but i am thinking of letting it go as i enjoy my old gw5000 much more often.

I am a fan of G-Shock, but the only square I own is the vintage DW5600C. I have had GW5000 and GMW-B5000D. But nothing feels like the vintage model.
I actually like having Bluetooth connection for setting and configuring the watch. But I think I like "more" for analog model with screwdown crown. Cause now I really have no reason to unscrew the crown when all the configuration can be done in the app. back to the topic, I have had a GMW-B5000D before, but I didn't really like it (which surprised me cause I thought I would love it). It could be the over-all weight, could be the lugs / end links that are not full articulated, could be all the shiny bits, I never really like the idea of DLC mid case, or all of the above. Maybe I would like it more if they would give it a "MR-G" treatment and give it a more refined finish. I ended up with the new GWR-B1000, this one I like a lot more. Just feels like what a G-Shock should be. :) The GMW-B5000 is not a bad watch, its just not for me.

Thoughts on Casio G Shock Full Metal Square
At first I bought the full metal GMW-B5000, it’s a cool piece but didn’t wear it. Too much gimmick, shiny metal and so on but mostly because bracelet end links flair out enormously. If it would bend straight down I’d wear it. Tried to remove it but turns out the screws connecting bracelet to case is fake.
Then got GW-5000 straight from Japan which is almost the same but in rubber. It’s a more premium movement, with metal screw down case back and softer rubber, than the normal G-Shocks. The GW is my beater watch and used for sauna, swimming etc. Finally I got the GMW-5000 in metal and rubber. This one is the absolute sweet spot for me, right weight, good finished metal but the comfortable rubber band as well. I wear this one around the house but lately I’ve been using it a little whenever whereas before I’d never be seen dead in anything but mechanical watch. |

I have the silver one with rubber, see my thread about it below. While it's cool and I like it, I don't think it's worth the price haha.

I had the Silver with Rubber strap , returned it because couldn't get a good fit (was between holes on the strap) , I think they're super cool , I'm considering getting the black full metal since it has micro adjustments on the clasp.
I also think they're overpriced , but they're very cool. |

Great build quality for the price. Got rid of mine though after a while because it was an anchor and didn’t really fit the ethos of a G square to me.
Happily reverted back to my resin/carbon fiber square ad my beater |

Casio released (and discontinued) the full titanium metal square in both DLC black and camo (with sapphire crystal). Here's the camo version.

Get the titanium camo version if you can find one. Really cool piece and when you consider its full titanium, camouflage dlc coated, blue tooth, the price doesn’t seem so crazy

Got this almost half right. One is kind of square. The other one not so much.

I have the metal square on rubber and had the all metal silver one as well.
I've since sold the all metal and bought the all gold one. Just a sucker for their negative displays. Love the no nonsense look, the idea of a watch that you never have to worry about time, the auto adjust time function and the water resistant. I mean I've played all sports with this watch, swimming, football, squash, running, climbing and its literally stress free ownership. I had reservations of the all gold but in real life it's quite muted the gold and the bracelet is really comfortable. I know people say it's expensive for what it is but in this day and age what isn't really. The metal G-Shocks are a solid watch that will outlive you. And I got mine on sale if you shop around. |

I should add the Camo version is readily available and not discontinued in the UK. It's available on the GSHOCK website just now but the sum of money is mind blowing. I draw the line at that figure!

The G-Shock Titanium camo model is really nice, but pricey for a frigg’in G-Shock. $1,600
What about this one? Pretty basic with a camo theme. https://www.gshock.com/watches/digital/gm5600b-3 How do these things wear? Large? small?

I have one and really like it. I have the plain steel and find that you can wear it with anything and it just works. Would highly recommend.

Tried some of these on today (all metal and metal/resin strap)
Felt like a really high quality item. Very tempted
