AD 116613lb bluesey payment delay

I had never tried on a blue two tone sub before today when I found one for retail At an ad. The dealer wouldn’t deal at all on the price and when I agreed to pay $2,000 down to hold the watch for an hour to get a bank draft I was told they would need to hold the watch for a week after I pay to ensure the payment cleared. Isn’t this the point of a bank draft? I paid for a car with a personal check and drove it away the same day. Is it just me that waiting a week for a watch after paying for it is unreasonable?

Yes, it should be like cash but ultimately if they are not confident then you will have to play it their way. Why not just use cash or credit card?

A bank draft must still clear. This generally is immediate if it is taken to the bank. Otherwise it can indeed take a day or two if a weekend. A week is not reasonable.

I guess it depends on if AD knows you.

MC in Van said they'll accept my personal chq.
But I said I get a bank draft just to build a little more relationship.
Walked home with watch same day, no need to wait for draft to clear.

Technically bank draft is considered as cash but it's discretion of the one receiving it whether to treat it as such.

Sign of the times with check fraud. In their infinite wisdom the federal reserve now lets cleared checks litter the landscape so everyone's account numbers can be exposed exponentially more times then the past-- and they wonder why check fraud is skyrocketing. I'd be surprised if there's any personal checks in the near future. And business checks will be all positive pay.

Standard practice everywhere now.

Pretty simple for anyone to fake using any home computer with a good quality printer.
