Just got mugged
Yep that's true I got mugged
I was walking in the city center with a girl and suddenly a guy stopped us. Well initially, I thought that he was a beggar as he asked for 1-2 euros and I told him that i didn't have any money on me( honestly i didn't have any money my wallet was at home ), but then he raised his voice and asked me for money and I replied: "hey man i have no money". Then, he said let me search your pockets and when he tried to approach me I thought that that was the time to punch him but seconds after the thought I realised that there was one of his buddies near the girl and the guy that was trying to approach me had a screwdriver. Then i told him "ok listen I have my mobile phone with me but I want my sim card". He said ok and then i gave him my phone after taking out my sim card ( luckily i had my old 30$ nokia with me so I didn't care that much). Then he started talking to the girl and telling her in greek that he is really sorry for all of this but the girl with that was with me was not greek and i was SO worried because usually they attack foreigners here in greece so i was trying to grab his attention in order not to bother the girl that was with me and realise that she is not greek( the girl was sort of shocked ). Well in the end, he called his buddies and they said that they were really sorry for what happened ( what kind of criminals are those guys ) and that they got out of jail 2 days ago and they were begging me not to call the police. I told them: "just leave you got a phone and leave us alone" If that guy would realise that I had a rolex well things would be much more complex I guess I was lucky and honestly I was really worried for the girl Anyway I am happy that nobody was hurt and who cares for a 30$ mobile phone Take care guys/gals

I am so glad that you were not hurt or your friend! Good thing that they didn't dare take your Rolex or they will all be probably at the morgue right now!

That was a really scaring moment I imagine!
I´m glad you got serenity to face things and go through with minimal loss. Fortunately you and your girl friend were untouched. (and Rollie got unseen!!) Take care! Regards, Abel

Glad you are OK. Happened to me once, but I wasn't so lucky and still have the scar in my ribs to prove it (#2 Phillips head screw driver). You did the right thing, not trying to be a hero. Just give the bastards what they want, within reason, and usually things will end peacefully. The world is a bad place, particularly when you are not prepared for it.

Lucky that it happened in winter time. In summer your GMT2c will be too shiny to be ignored...

Glad things worked out.
We will be travelling soon, and after reading one of the posts here, we will both be carrying old wallets with de-activated Credit Cards & now that you mention it, might toss an old phone in my pocket too. Glad all worked out for the better.

Man, I am glad you're OK - you handled the situation perfectly. Glad nobody got hurt and you're a bigger man for diplomatically 'extinguishing the fire'. Doesn't happen very often here, as you never know who is 'packing'. But if I go to the city center, my .45 Kimber is on my side!

Hi Velitsko,
Sorry to hear about the 'muggers' and I'm glad you are still in one piece. Like Harvey (only worse at it!) I cannot put into words my feelings but I'm just glad you are safe Si |

Wow Velitsko!! Very sorry to hear about that. You are correct though, a $30 phone is no comparison to your safety. Very glad things turned out the way they did for you. As for the criminals, apparently they have some sort of conscience.

Hey, you handled that like a pro. Good job Frostie - We are all glad you are okay... Impressive and I thank you for sharing as it helps us all think about what we would have done in that same situation. I think that is important.
Best,

Wow Velitsko - I'm glad you are ok and they didn't get your GMT. I had a 38 revolver stuck in my face one time as well. Not good times.

With the economy sucking more than a Dyson ...crime is going to get worse.
Maybe Dyson can design a vacuum to suck up all the scumbags out there? |

Great handling of the situation, and I'm glad you're all right, Velitsko!
Just a heads-up, guys - let's not let this become a gun discussion.

That confrontation must have been horrifying since you couldn't have predicted the outcome. I am glad you and your friend were left unharmed since your phone can be replaced easily enough. When incidents of this kind occur, it tends to justifiably leave people frightened and vigilant. These feelings will get better over time, but it's always good to maintain a certain degree of vigilance. Best wishes, Taffi
