Platinum Daytona?
A few weeks ago I was at my local AD getting my latest watch. As I was waiting me and a staff member were chatting it up...he casually mentioned he had something in the back and then came out with this.
I tried it on and obviously loved it. Now a bit over a month later I called my AD to inquire about something for a friend. The lady I deal with there casually mentions they still have the Daytona and can work with me in terms of holding it a few months and letting me get it in early September. Im obviously super pumped but its also a crazy amount of money. I really don’t want to sell any of my current pieces. But for my own mental health I would need to sell at least one. Still not 100% I wanna pull the trigger... help me decide guys Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'd personally go with the one with diamond indices. Sell what you need to and do it imo.

It's very easy to sit here and spend your money. There's no doubt that is an absolutely beautiful watch. For me, I'd have to be 100% set on a watch of that magnitude before pulling the trigger. Good luck. Your AD sounds awesome in that they're giving you time to decide.

Platinum Daytona?

I went through the same thoughts not long ago. In the end, I decided to pass on it. My AD had one with the baguette indices in their case yesterday, and it is amazing! |

I love the ice blue but I'm not a fan of the bezel at all.

I personally think you should walk away and ask yourself whether you seriously want this watch or is their something else you would rather have at this point in time. Thanks for listening. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk |

I would have to be absolutely in love with a watch for that amount of money.
Especially if buying it meant selling/trading my other watches. |

My love for the Platinum Daytona came about in similar circumstances-a random trip into an AD for something unrelated, was allowed to try it on and the next thing I’m planning a restructure on my collection to make the funds available to purchase. This is before I’d left the AD.I went through with my plan and purchased one over 3 years ago now.Ive no regrets-I did the right thing. There are many threads on here regarding purchasing one-set some time aside to do a search and read through.

I really cant understand what justifies such a huge price hike over a standard gold Daytona.
Isn't the premium a joke? |

Nothing and yet that is why it is so desirable.

I suppose it’s down to each person to decide if it’s worth around the premium or not. |

IMHO, the Platona is the ULTIMATE Rolex. That’s being said, I’m seriously considering selling mine because I don’t wear it enough.

I’m not sure yet. The Meteorite BLRO is on the short list as well as the black button dial DD40. I tried on the Meteorite PT DD40 and was completely floored!

Full disclosure: I’m not a Daytona fan (I’d buy the DD40 with the ice blue motif dial even if the Daytona was the same price if I wanted a platinum piece) BUT...
If you like it-get it. Nobody is coming to your wake and telling stories about the remarkable restraint you showed not buying the watch you really wanted. Life is short, get the stuff you want and don’t worry about anyone else’s opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If it instantly sings to you then congrats on your purchase, if it does not then walk away, something else will have your name on it. Personally i prefer the one with diamonds and lighter colour bezel, if you are going to spend that amount.

IMO, it is very hard to”justify” a platinum Daytona price tag if you aren’t going to wear it much. If it’s one watch of 20, you really have to have a big pile of money to own one. If you love it and are going to enjoy and appreciate it often (or daily), then it’s slightly easier.
There are many owners here on TRF who seem to enjoy wearing the “ultimate modern Daytona “ (in their eyes). I am one of them. Detractors tend to prefer having more variety or else they don’t care for the bezel and sub ring color. Good luck! It can be a tough watch to get out of your mind once it gets in there.

Super personal choice. I think it's the king of modern Rolex... But someone else will recommend the SARU blnr/rainbow Daytona instead. So just make sure you do for diligence and make yourself happy.

Either the RBOW or the SACO is king. The absence of stones and the pontiac blue dial make this the every mans watch.
