Help with potential first purchase - White 1680
Hello Everyone,
My first post! First, thanks to all for the endless information on this site. I spent about half the day yesterday going through years of old posts on White 1680's and barely cracked the surface. I'm looking at my first potential vintage Rolex purchase. A 6.1 serial White 1680. I would really, really appreciate all your expert opinions on this one. Most important (to me), the dial really has me confused. My best guess is that it's an original Mk II but... - the ever-so-slightly-open 6's...does this indicate service replacement? - does the lume look like the "toothpaste" that was used on some service dials? Other observations: - the bezel appears to be a replacement - the plexi looks too good to be 40 years old - the lugs look heavily polished Thank you again. Looking forward to hearing what you all have to say... Last edited by cchoi112; 17 June 2019 at 12:46 AM.. Reason: Make title more clear |

Dial looks like an original Mk II in good condition but wait for a few more opinions.
The insert is a service replacement, not sure about the rest of the bezel, would have to see more pictures. The plexi is a service replacement as you spotted. I wouldn't describe it as 'heavily polished'. It's certainly been polished a few times in its life but it doesn't appear excessive or beyond consideration provided that the price is right. |
