Black Bay GMT - Cons?

What was/is the deal breaker for you?

How it wears is why I passed. Too thick compared to Rolex GMTs. Otherwise very attractive watch... I thought it was snowflake overkill from pics but in person it works well. Awesome insert that plays with light well also.

Likewise! You really need to try it on for yourself and decide. The most common “complaint” seems to be that it’s too thick or too big; my wrist is flat and has a concave area where the watch sits so it looks fine to me. Only you can decide

Same here. It is a joy to wear, I wouldn't change anything on it - there are too many things that I like about the watch.

I flipped mine because it wore very high on my wrist. I think it would be better in a 40 mm case size as well.

Passed because I have a s&g and it is thick.

Too big and slabby for me. Now that the 58 exists, I won't ever be buying something based on the larger BB 41mm.

My heritage chrono is thick. I love that watch. Don’t let the thickness put you off. It’s not a dress watch. I don’t even notice.

Having owned a S&G, my biggest complaint wasn't so much the lateral case thickness but how tall the case looked between the lugs when worn on the fabric strap. Add the vertical brushed finish with end link marks and there you have my deal breaker.
The bevelled under case edges of the GMT look really well thought out and having a rather flat wrist I believe the sides thickness would probably not bother me.
I was offered one last year but being abroad at the time, I had to pass and missed the chance of seeing it in the metal.

Full disclosure: I've had the itch ever since. So one morning I called to enquire how hard would it be to source one...

Me: How hard would a BB GMT be to come by?
AD: Very. Strap or bracelet?
Me: Bracelet.
AD: Even harder. Would it be for yourself?
Me: Yep
AD: Well...In that case, give us a few days, next one in, is yours if you want it.

I just couldn't say no ...

Picking up next week

I really hope I won't be disappointed but if I am, I will consider offering it, unworn, to another TRF member at a small amount below retail.

I have the S&G and the GMT. Completely agree, S&G looks a bit silly on the strap, owing to the position of the lugholes.

I’ve got the GMT on an Erika’s Originals MN (the woven BB straps seem too flimsy, though got the GMT on steel). See attached photos for how it sits with the strap. Still thick and I’ve considered moving the watch on, but know I’d regret it.

Incidentally, despite its thickness, the S&G gets most wrist time out of the entire collection.

Didn't like the chunkiness or the colors. Non-starter for me.

Had one and traded it towards the new Omega SMP. My Tudor GMT was on the leather strap and never sat quite right on my wrist. Loved the looks of it and got more compliments on it than any other watch.

If they come out with a BB58 GMT version I am getting it.

Picked it up on bracelet, wore it on that as well as the Tudor fabric strap. I enjoyed it on both - while thick, the bevels on the bottom of each side of the case, plus the rounded case back, made it really comfortable.

The dial and bezel insert were enjoyable to look at and I like the snowflake hands.

Ended up getting rid of it for no reason other than to sink the funds into something else. I’d own one again if the right deal came along, no question, but when making cuts, it was far from my top priority to keep, so it went.
