GMT Hour Hand

Hi guys, this might be considered a noob question but I'll fire it any way, so here goes - can you set the get hour hand on the reverse, meaning going back to a previous date? Let's say I'm from Japan and flew to the Hawaii thus going back to the previous day, and I set the hour hand back, will it not harm the movement? Will the date also go back a day? Thanks for your replies

Yes you can. As you jump it backwards, if it passes through midnight, you will see the date window rewinding, but it has to come back into the previous day quite a few hours before the date window will snap back properly. You then simply set the hour hand to the correct hour, once the date has reversed back sufficiently.
Hope this makes sense?

It's not harmful to the movement? It appears by your experience you have to move the hour hand a few hours back from midnight before the date snaps to the previous day before setting it at the correct time. Is it too much on a mechanical sympathy point? Thanks

It’s designed to do that so no it’s not harmful to the movement.

You do not move the 24 hr hand (it is not a GMT hand) once you set it to whatever zone you choose. If you choose to change the 24 hr hand, you are resetting the whole watch, like any other watch.

The hour hand on a GMT II can be "jumped" in either direction and you can change the date either up or down by doing this. This is described in the owners manual as an accepted method of getting to your date the quickest way.

The date on the 117610BLNR move ahead with the movement of the hour hand, but does not go back when the hand is reversed. What could be the reason ?

You may need to jump the hour hand ahead a few hours to reset the cam, then turn it backwards.

It is designed to set the date in either direction
