Would you take this deal from AD?
Would you hypothetically take this deal from an AD?

Absolutely. You could sell the DJ and come out well ahead of GM prices.

Yes, and I'd book a ticket and fly to your AD from the UK - but I assume this is a joke or hypothetical post anyway...

Yes, but I doubt that it would be offered. I could see a PM watch at full retail and the Daytona-C.

Yes, if you resold the DJ, what would you be losing couple of grand? Worth it.

I have bought from my local AD’s (three) before.
AD #1 :One DJ41 with diamond dial and one bluesy, both within this year AD #2: one Hulk AD #3: one sd43 All three are still hinting at the need for me to buy more watches before they will consider getting me a Ceramic Daytona So i thought i don’t want to have them stringing me along and having to buy a 3rd, 4th.....etc and yet no Daytona..... So i want to offer all three: the above deal. I am no longer buying one watch at a two me in order to HOPE that they will consider me a Daytona. I am going to offer the same deal for all three and see who takes the bait. If none them accept then it’s time to cut my loss. |

Not gonna happen. Even if you bought all those watches from the same AD at the same time you probably wouldn’t secure a SS Daytona. The unspoken and spoken rule out there is $100k minimum at a single AD and you might get yourself a Daytona. |

I bought a Submariner 116610LN and almost a year later with 4 month wait (delivered end January 2018 the LV). 3 month ago I placed an order for a white Daytona. They quoted about 1,5 to 2 years of waiting. Envoyé de mon iPhone en utilisant Tapatalk

Don't embarass yourself by proposing this "deal" to your AD - methinks you might get hurt in the a$$ when the door shuts quickly behind you! |

The way i see it, if they take the deal then great, but if not then you get to see their reaction and body language (important to go straight to the manager who has the decision making power). You can gauge to see how many more watches you need to buy before you get your grail. It’s a way to test their threshold point. Ask yourself this question. How do you know they are not stringing you along to get you to keep buying watches from them without an end in sight? |

No sensible AD will give you that Daytona without extracting a lot more $$ from you, maybe you have a dumb AD, everyone gets lucky sometimes.

Not for me. I was offered a Daytona at MRSP when it was launched in 2016. It didn’t sing to me so I passed.

It's a good deal from the standpoint of you being able to get a Daytona at MSRP. If you want a watch for a wife/girlfriend then its an exceptional deal. If you are looking to sell the Datejust, your money may be tied up for awhile unless you have a buyer lined up. You will still probably lose a few grand reselling the Datejust even as brand new. That said, what you would lose would be well worth what it costs to get the Daytona on the secondary market. It all depends how bad you want the Daytona. I'd like a Daytona, but not enough to spend a cent over MSRP. For me, this would be a bad deal. If you really want a Daytona and want it now, this is an excellent deal.
