Rolex AD's turning into Greys

Does Rolex even care about a Rolex AD selling to known flippers, and asking grey market price for popular models. I see threads here saying Rolex doesn't allow ADs to sell over MSRP. From experience I know at least 2 ADs who do (Was offered 2 models for grey market price, and was told by a salesperson that they don't care if the buyer was a known flipper. Is there anything we as customers can do? will Rolex listen if we complain?

AD's would loose their status for such selling above MRSP if Rolex have evidence of the same.

Record the incident and report it to rolex. Shameful act tbh. Genuine buyers being put on the back burner with the higher prices on the grey.

Of course they don’t care, they are in the business of selling watches and that’s what grey sellers do including the difficult models. Why would Rolex be bothered by some who feel entitled to but a watch below it,s market value ?

I'm talking about Authorised Rolex Dealers selling way over MSRP, at prices at or a little below Greys market price. I read here that Rolex doesn't allow it.

An AD selling at MSRP is already getting 35% to 45% profit, or even more in some cases.

I don't know why this keeps coming up...

An AD can definitely sell a Rolex above MSRP. MSRP is not a mandatory price for any product, it is a Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price. If they can discount, they can raise stickers too; it works both ways.

Last year they did send Singapore Dealers a letter asking them to reduce their exorbitant pricing policies, and they also started putting market area MSRP on the website. All of that still doesn't make it a law.

Rolex will only shut down the offending ADs they want to shut down. Some favoured ADs get away with a reprimand and have to put in place improved internal controls. In one instance about 20 years ago, a Hongkong AD chain was fined by Rolex (so I'm told).

Consistent with what I've heard. A local AD has a lot of its watches appear on the grey market, recently dated with full stickers still attached. Nothing happens to them, as they are one of the largest and most influential ADs in the area, while other ADs in the region were reprimanded for having their watches appear on the grey market.

Would make some sense. Let the ADs list POA on everything and re-stock the cabinets.

100%. I heard rumors, and didn’t believe them, but when I dealt with them first hand it was just unbelievable what’s going on. The strange thing they don’t care if someone contacts Rolex and complains.

Nope. I don’t think this happens in the UK. Most if not all are very respectable.

Do used car dealers, lawyers and real estate sales people sell to gray market dealers?

No, no, no.... we don’t bash like that, here. Those are professions. If you don’t like ADs, fine but don’t compare to others in a negative way.

I think the frustration has reached the boiling point in many instances, which is understandable.

Yep. I understand it’s frustrating. I’d hate to see this guy get dinged by the mods, or banned if he went further. A couple of LOL emojis would have helped, if he was kidding.

We all have our hot buttons. But I use the pause button a lot, and it keeps me out of trouble.
