So many new Pepsi’s for sale...

Can’t help but notice 15 plus new Pepsi’s on jubilee on the first 5 pages of the sale pages, yet, of course I can’t get one from my ad for years even though I bought 40k of watches from them in the past 2 years. I know this has been discussed many times, but something just doesn’t add up.

Are we still talking watches?? The new Pepsi has been out only last year so hasn’t been there for “years” unless we are talking the drink in which case I can hook you up for a small premium and no waiting list

unfortunately, $40k in 2 years isn't much of a spend in NYC.

I have excellent relationship with my AD and I still can’t get the Pepsi or the Daytona. But, it has only been six months since I have asked him for a Pepsi. So, let’s see how long I have to wait for it...

Six months? You may be looking at 2-4 years with good behavior.

My AD's salesman said he likes talking to me because it's "a breath of fresh air" to hear the "more knowledgeable" and "highly technical questions" that I ask.

It's been a little over a year, and he expects another to pass before my turn comes up.

Get comfortable waiting.

A congenial demeanor might get you a Sub (happened to me and many others in here) but you’ll need a lot more to land any of the grail pieces. I’m very engaging when I meet with ADs but at the end of the day money talks, bull5hit walks.

Only time will tell if the Rolex SS shortage will ever end ... I personally think that we are all in some kind of denials accepting the fact that the grey market prices are the Real market prices ... I think Rolex knows that and they are making it up the difference in other ways from dealers (with the other models) and dealers are able to move stock efficiently in conjunction with the grey dealers ... everybody I think in this chain of distribution is happy except us the old Rolex fans ... ridiculous waiting lists ... frustration ... so seeing this myself I decided to consolidate my collection and go for a GMT Pepsi ... yes I pulled the trigger and I am enjoying my watch tremendously ... my 2c only ... thank you for reading

40k in 2 years is peanuts in the watch world. You need to be spending 100k plus per year to even be close to VIP. And that 100k isn't all on hot watches, they want you to buy window watches and jewelry ideally. Dont forget they can sell the hot stock all day every day to anyone who walks in. The platinum daydate sat in the window is a different story, buy that and you'll have a chance of a pepsi......if you're a good negotiator and they like you.

Depends on where you're, $40K might not be much in big town/city

$40K and I bet it was all SS Sports models... I spent $40K on a watch this year I don't even like from Patek. Oh well.

Now that is truly sad! I suggest the white gold Pepsi as an alternative to the steel one. It won’t be an investment, but maybe he won’t feel as dirty afterwards. Alternatively you could go to the grey market and pay twice MSRP if feel very dirty. Buying a pricey watch you don’t like to get a promise of a watch you want later is just being a sucker. The steel professional piece should come at the same time...sort of like a spy exchange at check point Charlie.

In my defense the watch looked better on pictures. Also I thought maybe that watch could boost me to get other pieces

I'm relatively new to this world of watch collecting...I'm enjoying it immensely, but find the whole AD relationship thing weird and the grey prices unexplainable. The only minor piece of rationality I can see for myself is in looking at long ago discontinued pieces in rare condition that were produced in limited or very limited quantities... Rolex produces a lot of watches, clearly not enough at the moment...but it doesn't seem to be on a path to end well. So I am learning to play the AD game to get ahead on the lists and learning most of all from this new hobby to be patient...and to enjoy the watches I have.

If 40k in 2 years did the job, we wouldnt have the market we have right now.

Minimum spends. A hundred grand to get on a list to buy a watch. Crazy talk. I think I'll just enjoy my now and again purchases from DavidSW instead of waiting and whining about a shortage of a luxury item like a Rolex. Which is a watch. It's a watch, guys.

Yeah, it's actually better to just pay the grey prices if you are going to spend $100k on pieces that you don't even want to get that one piece...

Guess you don't have a relationship.

How about that!

I got mine last October, so just a few months after release. The white Daytona on the other hand, I'm still waiting on after 2 years! The Pepsi doesn't look to be as rare as the Daytona.
