Explorer 214270
First post! Just got a call from an AD in San Diego who says she has an Explorer 1 available. Only waited 4 days. I thought these were fairly tough to find. Thoughts?
Put down a deposit so I can see it in person and try it on. |

I think you’re going to love it. As for “hard to find,” that’s quite subjective on where you live and your AD.

It's hard-ish. I've been to 6 different ADs over the last few months and not one had an Explorer, nor has one called me back saying they got one. I stopped in a 7th store on Saturday and one was just sitting in the case ready to be bought.

Does the short lead time and "surprising" ease of availability make it less desirable?

Love mine, have not worn any of my other watches since I acquired it. Go for it.

A great watch! The one watch for the desert island.

Get it if you end up liking it. It wears well, very comfy, and goes well with variety of straps. (except that one time that I picked up a god aweful strap to put on mine.) on a desert island, I would hope for a different kind of 'date'.

A great daily piece that works well for any occasion; If you grow fond of it you might not bother buying any other watches! But wheres the fun in that?!

Thanks for all the replies. I was originally looking for a DJ 41 dark rhodium / fluted / jubilee but this seems a little more versatile. I’ll probably add that one as well once it comes available.

My AD gets the Explorer (it is NOT an Explorer "1" BTW) on a regular basis.
That is how I got mine last October - via a normal stock replenishment.

They never struck me as difficult to get, though I guess it depends where you live. In Chicago (tough market), I've seen a handful at my local AD.
If you like it, that's all that matters. |

Great photos! Picked it up after work today. Very happy about the decision. Also was given the 2018-2019 Rolex book. Will post some photos tomorrow. Thanks for all the input!

[/QUOTE]That looks excellent on the Jubilee! The Explorer was never a favorite of mine but in the last few years I've grown to appreciate it and it's storied history. It really is a classic.
