Trade GMT BLNR for a 16710 Pepsi?
Hey watch fam,
I was thinking of trading my BLNR for a 16710 whilst the prices for the Batman are generally healthy and also pocket some change too as a 16710 can be had for less than the 116710 - pls let me know your thoughts Thanks! |

How do you feel about your BLNR? Still love it? It sounds like you are definitely interested in trading rather than adding although they’d make a great combo. I was lusting for a BLNR from last year but it didn’t happen and when I got my Pepsi 16710 I was very content.
If the BLNR still does it for you then I’d keep it or acquire the 16710. If not then pocket the few £££ and welcome to the club!

I would...but I much prefer the Pepsi colored bezel and I'm also not a fan of the PCLs.

I have a BLNR and considered this in the past. In the end, I'd miss the BLNR. It's special - going on 5 years and I think I like it now more than ever. We've officially bonded.
BUT I'd love to add a 5 digit 16710, just not willing to pay the asking, and not willing to sell the BLNR.

Nothing wrong with this if it’s what you want. Use the uptick in the BLNR to pay a large chunk of the 16710.
I prefer the older model as I like the case dimensions, so I say go for it but the BLNR is a lovely and in demand watch so make sure you really want to do it before you pull the trigger as it will be expensive to buy back. |

I traded a LN model for a Coke bezel 16710. I doubt I would trade my BLNR for one though.

Keep the BLNR and buy 16710 with Pepsi. We have both and they are the perfect combo
You would be mad to sell BLNR for 16710. You’ll never be able to get back into one |

I sold my 16710 Pepsi and bought a BLNR pre price hike. Thought I preferred the more solid bracelet construction of the newer GMT but it only lasted a few months. Ended up selling it and buying a Daytona.
Now given the choice I'd much rather have a 5 digit 16710 without question. Sold This; for this then sold that for this; and ended here!

I like the modern GMTs but the 16710 is a better watch in my eyes. Personal of course as always. I happen to love the BLNR though so that'd be a hard one to give up for me.

Tough choice, the BLNR is really the one modern GMT I happen to really like almost as much as the 16710.

They wear completely different so that would be the deciding factor for me.
I’d add the 5 digit and then you have the best of both wearing experiences |

Have you been able to compare both in hand at the same time?

JayKay - interesting migration to the Sub. I love the simplicity of the no-date!

I’m not a “vintage guy” so the older Pepsi feels inferior in every way to the newer Rolex reference to me. While the Pepsi is considered “classic,” I just think the color pallet and overall aesthetic are much more appealing to me on the Batman. Personally, the Batman is the most beautiful Rolex model in my eyes (with the white ceramic Daytona running neck-and-neck).
I would keep your Batman and save up for the vintage piece as a part of your collection. Otherwise, I would not be surprised you will regret giving up the Batman. I was fortunate to be offered a new Batman last Wednesday and I am in LOVE with it Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I would not. You will miss the ceramic bezel, much improved bracelet, and wrist presence of the BLNR in my opinion (I used to have a 16710).
Don't get caught up in the hype. Unless you are a vintage guy, the six digits are far superior to the older models. |

16710 all day, everyday! BLNR is a nice 3rd or 4th Rolex in my opinion, but as a 1 and only Rolex, you just can't beat the 16710.

Whatever you decide, make sure you handle the 16710 first. It is not as substantial a watch and for me wears too dainty. I also don't necessarily like the crown of the 16710. Others see it's daintiness and small size as a positive. Either way, it's a good problem to have.

Tough Call
Having both I can say that the BLNR and the 16710 are two very different watches. That said I love the 16710. While it doesn't have the latest and greatest innovations (updated bracelet and clasp, ceramic bezel, latest movement, beefier case and crown, maxi dial, etc.) it does have grace and charm that the newest models lack. The case is sleek and wears flat and close to the wrist. The tapered lugs are very distinctive and the bezel click (I believe 120 clicks) allows for timezone changes that are off-hour. Also, with the 16710 you can easily have several watches in one. The RSC will gladly sell you and swap out Coke, Pepsi or all-black bezel inserts. Also, you have the choice of a jubilee or brushed oyster bracelet. This classic reference also has an air of nostalgia and a little more "soul" then the current models. Overall it's a tough call, there is a clear justification for each one. Ideally having both would be best but certainly not an option for many.

I've gone back and forth between 5 and 6 digit references. Biggest regret is getting caught up in the "new" blue lume and trading my Pepsi for an Explorer II. I'm back to the 5 digit camp with a TT GMT.

Have you worn any 5 digit SS models? I lusted after a ceramic no date sub for years until I finally bought one early this year. Then I bought a Pepsi 16710. Prior to owning the 16710, I always thought I preferred slightly larger, heftier cases as they generally feel more substantial, better made, etc. It turns out I love the slimmer lighter case of the old 5 digit models and even enjoy the lighter, less substantial bracelet. All in all, I find the 5 digit watch so much more comfortable than the 6 digit. Just this morning, I sold my no-date SubC to fund the purchase of a second (black bezel) 16710.
All of that is to say, I would completely understand someone selling a BLNR to buy a 16710. It really is a fantastic watch. |

I prefer the 16710 of all the GMT's.
Rolex will never make another watch like it with end user interchangeable bezel inserts and bracelets. They would prefer you buy another watch if you want a change of color.

I would keep the BLNR, it's one of my favorite Rolexes of all time, especially the one on the oyster bracelet!
