Panerai has lost me...

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a hardened Panerai fan pre-2016. Since the introduction of the DUE they started to irritate me. Today I just received an official email since I’m signed up to their mailing list. It seems they’re now confusing matters further with a radiomir that doesn’t have wire lugs. Is it their intent to completely destroy the brand and confuse everyone into submission?

That’s the Radiomir 1940 case. It’s been around since... 1940.

Panerais reintroduced it in 2012 and it’s been in their line since. A truly historical design.

Have to agree.

OP may be “lost”, but he’s not trying too hard..... ;-)

Today there are 5 main lines, with a couple more subtle variations within the lines:

* Luminor
* Luminor Due
* Radiomir
* Radiomir 1940
* Submersible

I wasn’t a big fan of the green Panerai. But this one is beautiful.

I just take Panerai for what they are. I like the picture of the watch they sent you.

Radiomir 1940 has been around for awhile now. It was a transitional model post WWII and was reintroduced early in the past decade. It has the cushion case shape of the Luminor 1950 but without the device protecting the crown. What I think is more confusing is that Panerai no longer differentiates between the traditional Radiomir models and the Radiomir 1940 models. They sort of group them all under the "Radiomir" category on their website. Panerai has always been defined by case shape first rather than functionality which is why I think it was foolish to make the Submersible its own category and group all the Luminors and Radiomirs.

I don't have a problem with the green dial Radiomir 1940s. I think they look good. I just think it's lame that Panerai released several green dial Radiomirs recently as limited editions and is now doing it again with these. Part of a larger problem with the brand. They should be streamlining their models, not doing the same things over and over.

I noticed that too, the web site used to separate them.

The current problem with Panerai is...they come up with lots of LE blue dial at one go,then a year (or two) afterwards they make yet another blue dials...same thing with green dial....they shouldn’t do colored LE too soon or too much...I remember there were blue dial LE pams back in the days (65,69,82,87,120,168 are some of them,there’s also a set of 3) but they don’t make 4-5 different LEs at one go...

Wow.

I would seriously consider buying that. I really like that green dial/ strap combo but I'm a Rolex fanboy - what would I know?
