Thoughts on DJ 41 silver stick dial?

I have always been a SS professional (sports) Rolex guy. Most may wander from SS sports to classic models like DJ41 due to not being able to buy sports models, but I have been lucky enough to recently land a DSSD D-Blue and GMT Master 2 BLRO.

Then I saw this one being offered by a trusted seller - wow! Easy to read, crisp clean dial, and just plain amazing! I’ve been thinking down on all DJ models, but I started questioning myself after seeing this one. I asked my wife, whom I trust on watches (at least from a “do you like it?” perspective). She said, yes I really like it.

I told her the retail price, which made her question why the TRF sale price was approx $1k below MSRP? She said, “I thought you said SS were hard to find and rising in value.” I tried to explain the difference between Sports (professional) and classic models, but the more I explained, the more I realized that it really only came down to bezels and crown guards, which brought me to an ah ha moment.

Pure class and beauty. I’d be proud to own and wear one, which I just might ...

What do you think of this relatively plain silver stick dial fluted bezel oyster bracelet DJ41?

SS Oyster -- I really like that model DJ and think it would fit nicely in your collection. Would give you a nice variety, especially dial-wise, amongst your DSSD and BLRO, plus if you're a sports watch guy, still gives you the Oyster bracelet. I wear my DJ just as I do my other sports models. Buy it (you already greased the skids with wifey, so you're good to go).

I have that reference but with jubilee. Absolute classic and gives your collection balance. Enjoy

I bought a 31mm with a diamond dial for my wife. The silver sunburst dial is magnificent. It changes so much with lighting and goes with literally any situation. It would be a top pick for a DJ dial.

I think a lot of people are starting to think the same way. I know I have.

And having got a DJ41, if I had to keep 1 of those 3 watches for life, it would be the DJ.
That silver dial is stunning. Actually prefer it to my Rhodium I think. Very legible too.

got my BNIB TT DJ41 for almost 2k under MSRP from DSW ... this is the greatest Rolex bargain out there

love the silver dial, but careful, as wife will definitely grab this one from you

I've had a silver dial DJ. I no longer wear it for personal reasons, but one practical reason. As my eyes got older, I could no longer read the time. That picture shows the hands almost black due to the way the camera took the picture. But in reality the hands are white gold and the dial is silver and are very close in color. For younger eyes this is usually not a problem, but for older eyes, especially in sunlight, it can be a problem. I'd suggest you check one out in person if you can find one. If this is not an issue, that is a classic combo.

I've had a deposit on a Blue dial DJ41 for over 2 months now. The contrast with the dial and hands is great, and the blue dial is beautiful, and very readable. But this is a hard to find combination right now.

It’s a very nice watch, I really like it. A good friend picked up one a few months ago although his is on jubilee.

Agree with the above post that the silver dial has legibility issues IRL.

Take a look at the rhodium dial, similar color, but easier to read.

I really like it. I own a DJ II with the Rhodium diamond dial. A great wearing watch.

That is my favorite DJ, though I'd want the jubilee.

The fluted bezel and silver dial is really nice.

I have this watch except in smooth bezel.
I would agree there are times the dial washes out in certain lights, but most of the time it is a stunning look.
The only dial I would want more is the blue dial.
Good luck

Like you I’m a sports (sub’s) kinda guy, and impulse bought a DJ 41...so glad I did. It’s my “Grownup” Rolex while dressed in a suit. Such a classic look, with a quality watch!

Very classy dial. Different color perception depending on light condition. I have the same but with the smooth bezel.

Fifty nine years young 1005.

Mine for twenty six.

I’d say Silver Dial stands the test of time.

That's a beautiful looking piece. I was also thinking of comparing the silver to a white dial. ? ?

AD near me in Westchester NY has DJ41, white dial, Roman numeral pointers, jubilee bracelet in showcase. WG bezel, 126334. It is the newest model. Very easy to read the time. PM if interested.

Great watch especially for the money when compared to where the SS sport model pricing is these days.. I have a DJ2 with the blue dial. It's the dressy watch in my son's and my collection. We are so glad we bought this one. It wasn't on our radar and then we saw one in person at a dealer and we were like--- wth is that?!!!

The silver is an easy bet but also check out a few other dial colors (love the rhodium and obviously the blue) and other variations (diamond markers, romans, etc) now that the larger DJ model is on your radar..

That looks fantastic, but I would also worry about legibility.

I found it to be more legible than rhodium. I initially wanted rhodium dial but, after seeing it in the flesh, I could not tell the time - everything blended in. Silver was surprisingly more legible... at least for me so, went with silver.

I'd prefer a little more contrast with the dial color. I agree with the other members suggestion rhodium

But if you like the silver... Do it! Price seems to be good
