tudor snowflake question

what makes a tudor sub a "snowflake"? is it the hour hand?

also has anyone ever heard of a french military (special forces?) tudor from the early 1970's? what might that be worth?

thanks for any help. sorry i don't have a picture.

The square hour and second hand as well as the square hour markers are indicative of the "snowflake" Tudor Sub. Tudor Subs where issued to the US Navy as well as the French Navy, The Marine Nationale. These would have a MN engraved on the case back and typically issued with straps so no end piece marks on the underside of the case.

Neil,
It hasn't left my wrist. Just ordered a RAF Nato from The UK. Should look great with the blue dial.
These first pics were pretty down and dirty. When my wife returns home with the camera I'll do a full photo shoot. Should have time next week.

Looking forward to the photos Dan (but there's not that much wrong with the current ones imo!). Should look super on that NATO .

Mint condition examples have been selling for as much as $3500.00. Some a little less.
Hope it works out for you,
