Do you think there is a market for a smaller Submariner?

I think a smaller Submariner would be a huge hit. Rolex does make a 37mm Yachtmaster. I think there could be a huge market for a 37mm or 38mm Sub. My wife would definitely want to get one so that we could have matching SubC watches. What do you think?

No. Rolex makes plenty of smaller size watches already, but their best sellers are 40mm. If anything, Rolex seems to be going in the other direction. The DSSD went larger than their usual size, then the SD43 bumped the Sea Dweller up 3mm. They increased the Explorer II from 40mm to 42mm. Even when Rolex has kept the dial size of the GMT the same they bumped up the overall bulkiness of the watch.

I have eyed up a Tudor Mini Sub (35mm) just this weekend.
Fully serviced and like new.

Wife already has the 35mm YM, but the Mini Sub is a bargain.

But she doesn't want it. Wants a diamond DJ36 for 4x the price!

That’s really cool. I wonder if Tudor will ever output something like that now a days.

That would be so cool.

I think Rolex would want you and your wife to buy matching Yachtmasters

Probably not because the sub works for most people... They could refine the supercase (lugs, etc) to make it wear smaller as that is one of the huge factors of size / wrist presence (think 6 digit vs 5 digit)

There is a market for almost anything Rolex would make, its just a matter of how big & how worthwhile that market is in terms of profitability... there is always the smaller YM

Nah, man it up or get a 36 DJ, I've seen and met (but not yet slept) with many women who rock subs.

Best “case” scenario is Rolex trims the lugs slightly on the future 126610 and 124060, like they did on the 126710.

Worst “case” scenario is they bump up the 124060 and 126610 to ~42mm.

My sub is a perfect size.. Plus it would not be a good idea to have a female version of the sub.

Big market no, but personally I'd be interested in the YM 37 if it had a 70h power reserve and 20mm lugs.

I'd be all over a Sub 38 with the aforementionned characteristics

One would think it's too close from a regular Sub 40 to be commercially viable, but then again, Rolex maintains a Datejust [edit : or is it OP ? I'm mixing things up] lineup consisting of 34, 36 and "41" (in reality 39,5) mm models.

The 40 mm submariner is the smaller dive watch.
