Wow this is unusual, I think it’s telling me something

9 Days ago, I got a call from my AD letting me know the watch I wanted is here. At that point, because I just got a vintage datejust so I kindly telling her that I will passed on this opportunity. And of course I am little sad on passing the opportunity.

And just this afternoon, I got a text message From the AD saying “ Hey, I have been trying to get ahold of you, I would like to let you know that your watch is here. “

I’m like “ it’s still there? “
“ Yes, it’s ready for you to bring home!”

She said she will keep it for me. I think this unusual situation is telling me something....

Wow. Can’t pass up steel sports Rolex these days. You never know when you’ll get another without paying the premiums.

Yes - hurry up and get it before they sell it right from under you !!!! GREAT INVESTMENT!!!

In all seriousness, it sounds like things maybe slowing down ... no doubt they offered that watch to everyone else on the “list” by now and apprently there were no takers. No reason to FOMO over this watch if you don’t really want it.

I do see things slowing down now but while the market was at its strongest why pass up a watch that if you don’t want it you can profit 7,000 usd give or take. I live in Canada where are dollar sucks wages are low and the 7k usd profit is 10,000 Canadian well that’s 4 months income here before taxes so more like 5 months income it’s very hard to pass up.

The SubND premium on the secondary market is closer to $0, than $7000. You'd be lucky to break even at wholesale to a scalper.

Yet you told them you’d take one when it came in? You should go collect your order.

You gave them a list, like a typical flipper, and they still want to give you this watch, God this AD is ditzy and won't be around much longer.

Because they know I’m a not a flipper. I actually have not sold any Rolex I got. And this AD have been there for many years with pretty good service.

There’s nothing wrong to give them a list of few watches that you like.
I don’t know what your problem is

Collectors have list Too! Who do you think their clients are? Collectors and flippers or collectors who later sell / flip.

Don't take it if you don't want it. They are selling you the most basic model out of the SS and hoping you will fear being "blacklisted" for the next purchases if you don't purchase it. They are playing you.

Awful advice. Seems as though you know little about the Rolex model Range also if you believe the submariner is the most basic model

Buy it and flip it, that'll teach the AD a lesson.

I didn’t say the sub is too much for me. I just didn’t want to get 2 watch at the same time.

And you are telling me you have never changed your mind on something before?

Having them call you twice is surprising.

If you don't want the ND Sub, I know of a TRF member (in Toronto as well) who is looking for one to add to his collection.

My next watch will be a Rolex, my first one, I have given my AD a list of watches that I like it is fairly lengthy. The reason for this was because they sat me down and went through various options and I liked all of them, sigh....

There is no intention of flipping any watches as I intend to buy, keep and pass on to my kids, I am also going to see the AD this week to refine the list as I have excluded a few options since my initial visit and have narrowed my choice to two watches, a DJ41 and Explorer. The DJ will hopefully be this years purchase with the Explorer arriving next year.

I will then have to consider what to buy for my 60th in 2021........

This entire thread is confusing and makes one think of a troll since the OP didn't post a pic.

They must be desperate to sell. You should carefully assess this situation.

Is the new watch that much better than your vintage DJ?
