Current UK Service Timescales
Hi.
Does anyone in the UK have an idea of the current service timescales/turnaround time at the RSC. One of my watches is needing done but I haven’t sent anything in for service in a while. I remember a few years ago when they were moving to the new RSC site in the UK the service times were crazy long. Thanks. |

Ideal. Thanks. Seems to be much quicker now than it used to be which is good news.

Is the majority of the serving not carried out at the Kent site? I think the London site is much smaller. Hopefully that’s the case if London is closing for a bit.

I think anything that is sent by an AD is sent to Kent, London tends to be the walk in stuff only I think.

A cautionary word:
I took my partners Date Just into a UK AD and specifically requested that it be returned to the RSC Kent for service. The AD totally ignored my request and serviced it in house which I'm now pursuing as a Breach of Contract, I dropped the watch in on June 14th they returned it on 12th August. To answer your original question. Although they say its the same service using Rolex parts and trained watchmaker, In fact its not the same, you will not receive a 2 year international warranty card, a written estimate or confirmation of what they have actually carried out to the watch or a Rolex service pouch. My advice send it in Recorded and Insured or deliver it yourself directly to the RSC. |

Funny you mention this. I just went into the AD closest to my office and they were very keen to service in house. I left as I don’t trust them. Quoted me 5-6 weeks in house and 9 to RSC. My preferred AD sadly had closed down who were an independent. Now I’m stuck with the chain dealers. I wouldn’t let an in house watchmaker touch my watches. Some I’m sure are excellent but you don’t know what you are getting.

Working for Rolex does not automatically mean better trained staff than anywhere else. Generally speaking trained watchmakers have come from the same small selection of schools anyway. |

Maybe so but if something went wrong I would rather it went wrong while the watch was at Rolex. I would much rather deal with them than a single AD who’s in house watchmaker made a mess of things. |

In seriousness, though, I understand and don’t disagree with your comment. In reality, more care and attention may well be made by an independent. I would, however, feel better that my watch had been serviced at RSC (no polishing). At least that way there is a certain type of record made and official Rolex documentation given. |

THIS! If you want a good Rolex-accredited watchmaker, I'd thoroughly recommend http://www.watchworks.co.uk in Bristol. I always use him and would never risk going through the RSC network after some of the stories I've read over the years. |

Best you walk in to London St James and give it to them by hand. The safest and nicest way to proceed
I gave them 2 watches (exp1 new and exp2 early 90s) about 6 weeks ago, one is ready they called me on Thursday. But I told them to save on postage just wait for the other to be ready and send them both at the same time. The exp 2 probably needs more work hence the time difference |

If you live in the south east and don't want to drop the watch into an AD or the London RSC I believe that the RSC in Kings Hill Kent will accept watches dropped off by the owners.

My local AD In house technician will not speak directly to customers ...........period.
You have to go through SA's who simply don't care and often pass the wrong message both ways. At least if you send the watch to the main RSC simply the volume of watches they service and repair increases your chances as a customer of getting a better quality end result. My AD's technician probably (Educated guess) services 3 to 5 watches a week and the majority will be date just movements, the more rare or unusual movements who knows maybe 4 a year. It would be interesting to find out the numbers a Rolex technician actually services or repairs per week and year in comparison to AD and RSC? |

Took my 2006 Pepsi in for a full service last year ,, I dropped it my self at London RSC.
They quoted me 450 £ and 4 to 6 weeks for the service. They contacted me in just under a month that my watch was ready to be picked up. Service was great very professional and no fuss, highly recommend. The 2years warranty was the cherry on top ! |
