Rolex ss sports sadness

Feeling blue to have the listed price ready but there's literally no ss sports model available at any ad. the situation is very frustrating...

I have to say, I have seen a lot more Omega's being sported. Speedmasters and Seasmasters, especially.

They have even increased their prices more recently.

I am wearing a new Planet Ocean Chronograph Master Chronometer because of its movement and execution of the watch as I already own all the Rolex watches I want. Omega is crushing it with their Master Chronometer line of movements.

I've been eyeing a Speedmaster Racing White Dial for a while and these pictures of your POC is really convincing me to finally go get one (same movement).

Beautiful timepiece!

Go for it. I put the cal.9900 movement through all kinds of tests. By far, it is the most high performing automatic movement I have ever tested. The accuracy and amplitude of the power reserve blows everything else out of the water. 65 hours of power reserve (5hr above spec) but the shocker is the accuracy it kept during the power reserve test with perfect time keeping 64 of the 65 hours. That is unheard of amount of stability in a automatic movement. Most modern automatics show some deviation 24 hours into their power reserve and then accuracy goes down hill after 36 hours even if it has a 70hr Power Reserve.

Here is the deal with Rolex for me as I don’t want to come off dumping on a great reliable watch that I own. The Rolex Sub is a great $8500.00 dive watch as it was accurately msrp. The rub is, it’s lousy $17k SS Dive watch. The current market makes it a $50 box of Cornflakes siting next to a $2.50 box of Wheaties cereal.

it looks a whole lot better, really clean, too much on the dial for me with a sky dweller.

its often resale value and brand position that tips people over to rolex, its clever stuff.

Thank you, I really like it, it might even be a keeper!
The only minor irritation is after Rolex the bezel is a bit "agricultural" that said its so much better than the Turdo Harrods I flipped to fund this, that hour hand YUK

Very nice, been waiting for SkyD or GMT for ages, this looks like a very beautiful alternative.

Yep I got tired of waiting also, and I am fed up with the current Rolex climate. In the mean time I decided to pull the trigger on something else, and I love it.

There are DJ, YM, AK to be had with relative ease; these beautiful pieces beat the shopping mall brands by a mile in value retention.

With the number of people who want to get into Rolex; I have a feeling even the DJ or YM will eventually be hot commodities in a few years. So it's a good time now to get these models; the purchasing of these could also serve as your gateway into building a relationship with the AD.

I see Rolex two-tones at AD's just about everywhere. Based on grey pricing for sport/professional SS models, consider a Rolser for about the same dollars--purchased directly from an authorized Rolex Dealer and have a higher level of confidence in what your actually buying.

I second this. I have a 2 month new model seamaster that technically is BETTER than the submariner thats been in the safe for the last week now..it just doesnt say 'Rolex' every time I look at it and I dont mean that in a pretentious way..I can't explain it

No I get that. I am at a different place with Rolex because after 30 years of Rolex ownership the brand name means very little to me now. I love the watches but the Rolex look and advancements feels stagnate to me. Rolex has become too conservative in the last 10 years and just isn’t advancing their movements or styles enough for me. I don’t value a Rolex watch above their msrp and even then I usually paid less than msrp on now hot models like the LVC.
The recent SS shortage feels even more artificial and doesn’t enhance the brand to me at this stage in my watch collecting. I am almost getting that late 80’s status seeking yuppie vibe with the current climate Rolex has cultivated. I love horological history and innovation so that element pulls me to more than just the Rolex brand. There is a huge world of watches out there with exceptional historical pedigrees older and more significant than Rolex so why limit to a one brand collection.
