Rubber strap; OEM AP VS RubberB?

Hello forum;

I’m looking for a black rubber strap for my 15400OR��

The obvious choice is the OEM (why not) but that proves to be quite a hassle.

There is no AP boutique or retailer in my country and the nearest one MIGHT ship me one for $360. ( br.403.753.002ca)

So of course I then think about RubberB. Not only are they $100 cheaper but I can have one in a few days and I love their quality from my Rolex.

Another variable is the size of the OEM; RubberB just makes onesize, but I’ve heard the OEM AP is big and that many need to size down from standard to small (XS?) (even though they fit the standard croc fine)

Design wise I might prefer the OEM 5% more and of course I’m a brand snob.

But if we put that aside; does anyone here actually have experience with both specific straps?

Forget the OEM and purist thing for a second and let me know if both are the same quality, feel and fit?

The one time I saw and tried a AP OEM I wasn’t blown away.

The conversions are different depending if you have bracelet or leather. I switched my leather to the Rubber B using the current plots. If you have the bracelet model you have to purchase plots from Audemars Piguet or use the rubber b with the integrated plots. Quality wise it is AP oem quality. Here is my set up:

I have the strap version. So no conversion kit needed

in case you have doubts on quality.... 2 Rubber B straps and OEM Richard Mille.

Would not be surprised if rubber b makes the straps for RM. I heard they make the aquanaut straps for Patek.

I've not had a good experience with RubberB. Admittedly it was four or five years ago, but I had two sets of their straps for my Deep Sea Rolex and after about six months on both the surface, which starts a nice matt finish, went shiny and the rubber stiffened. Maybe they've now improved, but for the cost I wasn't impressed and annoyed I was stupid enough to give it a second try!

I contacted them to complain after the second strap went the same way but they were totally unhelpful.

In all reality you seem to be describing natural wear and tear you would get from any big name maker. Natural rubber unless mixed with silicone will develop a shine or patina as some call it. Non of these are mixed with silicone. It's the same logic you would use with tires on a car or motorcycle , they all wear differently due to driving and elements of nature. Even the most robust rubber strap in my opinion (AP Diver) goes through this with time. It has nothing to do with quality or lack thereof

AP oem next to Rubber B. fwiw The dual color rubber b came out first. I have no doubt they produce in the same location. I've posted my personal oem offshore against the rubber b it's exactly the same strap with different design elements.

But Rubber B is OEM to 100k watches so what are you talking about? It's the same as OEM but with a difference in design like another member mentioned. 20k should be cake lol
