Sell old and buy New BLNR ?

Fellow degenerates:
Have a “dilemma”.
I was offered a new BLNR at MSRP. I’m not a flipper and I can’t pass the watch into another TRF member, even though I asked.... So here’s the dilemma. I have a 4 year old BLNR in amazing condition that I’m sure I can get 13-14 k for. My ridiculous reasoning was as follows:
Sell old BLNR, buy new BLNR and pocket 3-4K towards the next purchase.
Prior to everyone saying to just add the watch to my collection, I have a Pepsi (picked up this year) so I don’t “need” the jubilee but I like new, shiny things. And there’s way too much redundancy to have oyster and jubilee BLNR and a Pepsi. At least that’s how I rationalize this obsession. I had a similar thought on selling my SD 4000 earlier this year (that I reached out to the forum for advice) for a sub but realized I love the SD too much. And it’s much more unique.

Am I being ridiculous and just pass on the watch or is pocketing some money and still scratching the itch a sound idea?

IMO the BLNR looks way better on Oyster so I would keep it. As to whether you should get the new BLNR, that's up to you. Monetary gain aside, do you want it or do you know people who want it? If so, get it, if not, don't.

I know it's unholy, but you'll just perpetrate the system if you buy and flip the jubilee BLNR. Just be magnanimous and go easy on the resale

I would only buy the jubilee BLNR to keep. Flipping or re-selling is not an option. The funny thing is if there wasn’t such a “drought” going on, I wouldn’t even consider selling the oyster because I just love the look. But then again, 3-4 grand in my pocket for a piece of jewelry that was never supposed to appreciate isn’t something to take lightly.

I am not saying flip it or sell it, but maybe you have a buddy who wants one so even though the AD won't sell it to him, you can "buy" and immediately "sell" to him for what you got it, or something like that. If not, keep the Oyster BLNR.

If you are doing this to pocket some change now, I am willing to bet the oyster will be worth a lot more than the jubilee down the road. Rolex basically created a relatively limited run BLNR and we all know what history says about the potential of models like this. First bicolor ceramic bezel establishes it a part of rolex history. So why not just hang on to it and see what happens?

Highly doubtful. The oyster BLNR is the old one now. Kind of the holes case of the previous gen. Maybe if the new movement turns out to be a problematic nightmare.

Keep what you have. Don’t want to get too similar or you’ll end up favoring the Pepsi or blnr. Then one won’t get wrist time. If you buy the jubilee I’ll pay you MSRP for it immediately. You’ll be helping a TRF member out that way.

No way. The Oyster BLNR is the OG. It's the first of its kind. The new one, while I appreciate the enthusiasm, doesn't share the same movement, dial, or bracelet. What you currently have is a Rolex first in terms of bezel tech and color. Keep it!

Although comfortable, I'm not a billionaire either. Even if you make 2 or 3K it hardly seems worth the time, trouble or hassle. Besides, a fellow WIS (or just about anyone) will get a hard to get watch. There's a whole lotta' good karma coming your way if you let someone else buy it.

Thanks for everyone's thoughts. I have decided I like the Oyster way too much to sell. To answer a few of the posters' questions:
-Good thought on trying to get for a friend. Have asked a few but none have the funds currently. I am going to pass this on and let another enthusiast have their shot from this AD.
-Whether I take this watch or not has NO bearing on my future incomings with this dealer - I am still awaiting the White Daytona and I am sure still will be (for a long while) whether I bought this or not. The dealer has gotten me a Blue SS Skydweller and a Pepsi so they know I am a good client who won't burn the relationship for a few extra dollars.
-The Jubilee on Pepsi I really love and will keep. No need for the new movement for the new shiny thing in the BLNR - Basel '20 is right around the corner. Need to keep some dry powder for those new releases.

Go with which one you like best. I think BLNR looks best on Oyster. I declined when my AD offered in May.

I have the new BLNR, but if you have the BLRO then why do it? You would probably make some money if you bought it and just sat on it like a grey dealer, but hope it goes to someone that wears it. The BLNR and BLRO are the same but different bezel and GMT hand.
