Do I enjoy clocks? I do. Grandfather cocks? No. Not even a little, actually. Thanks for asking, though.

I have a passion for all time pieces. I have rebuilt one that I have had for 32 years - got as a first year anniversary gift. The movement needed replaced. Thought the clock was a goner so I bought another then realized I could easily resurrect the original. I've also replaced an old mantel clock with a battery/quartz movement.

I am sorry, but this is the best thread by a mile, it should be used as a sticky! On the clocks, I do enjoy them, but I do not carry them while traveling nor do I have any pics on me.

Not sure you want to use "Sticky" in the context of this particular thread.

I can appreciate a JLC Atmos, but it ends there.

The first year in watchmaking school I had to repair clocks as well, I hated it. I eventually repaired an old French Comtoise clock that belonged to my grandfather, making bushings on the lathe (the jewels of a clock), hand polishing pivots, etc.

I don't really like the style of this clock either, and it took me hours and hours to fix it

Love clocks, have about 12 all told, and they all work and keep time. I keep three going all the time, but out of those 3, I only have the strikes going on two, a french slate mantle clock on the mantle piece in the living room which strikes the 1/2 hour and hour on a lovely small bell, and a wall clock in the dining room which strikes the quarters and hours, ting tang style. There is a longcase (grandfather) clock in the hall, which I allow occasionally to chime a sonorous westminster chime. I have another longcase on the staircase landing, and ships clock which strikes the watches on a bell in the kitchen, these two are wound down most of the time, but they do come alive periodically. The others are dotted around the house, and once in a while I wind them to keep them from siezing up. I will take some photos and post them when time allows.

I don't shame anyone for enjoying whatever/whoever they want. Grandfather, or otherwise.
