Rolex Oysterflex 116518LN advice
Hello,
I'm currently looking at the above referenced Rolex. I wanted some impressions and advice on the oysterflex band. It would be worn nearly everyday. Also is it worth shelling out more for the 116508? Finally, I've got numerous ADs willing to order this for me. Is this something i can negotiate off MSRP? Thank You in advanced for any help |

Wear my 515 every day. Incredibly comfortable and great overall balance even though it doesn’t have the bracelet.
Have you asked for a discount? Try that first if you’re serious about buying it. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I haven't asked for a discount yet but once i make a final decision i'll see who wants to play ball. I've already had an AD tell me i'll be number 1 for a BLNR if i buy from him. |

I prefer the Oysterflex on my 515 for a couple of reasons. First, the Oysterflex models combine the strap with the ceramic bezel, which makes the watch less prone to scratches and other visible wear marks. A PM bracelet will show a lot more everyday wear and tear, and I have yet to see a regularly worn Daytona with a metal bezel (SS or PM) that doesn't display significant signs of use. I also like the lighter weight vs. a PM bracelet. I have worn the watch on plenty of very hot days this summer without problem or discomfort. I asked about a discount at the time of purchase and was politely told "no".

I've worn an oysterflex almost every day for the past 6 months or so. It's very comfortable. As to the 508, I would not pay what they're going for, but you should just buy whichever you like more if money isn't an issue.

OF is either amazingly comfortable or amazingly uncomfortable depending on if your wrist size fits the various strap lengths available.
Also be very careful while they change the straps and make sure someone very experience is doing it other wise lots of horror stories about damaged lugs from inexperienced sales reps. Should be able to find a discount or bundle for another SS watch. The YG isn't nearly as popular or fast of a mover as the WG or RG versions. The OF vs full bracelet I would argue is easier to wear daily since no scratches or dings pick up on the OF. No sign of wear on mine despite about a year of ownership and maybe 2-3 days a week. Congrats in advance! |

This isn't mentioned enough in OF discussions. The people that swear by the strap don't realize it's not a perfect solution for all. I end up wearing mine loose so the "wings" don't dig into my flat wrists. I highly recommend everyone tries on an OF watch prior to purchasing.

It's a great daily wearer, IMO, and as a bonus, you don't get all the scratching on the bezel and bracelet of the all gold version.
However, whether it's worth it to shell out more for the 508...that's totally subjective. The feel of a gold bracelet on the wrist is something else, altogether. Only you are going to be able to make that call. Finally, discount? Never hurts to ask, but it's been my experience that AD's are more generous with discounts when they have something laying around they're trying to get rid of...not when they have to order something. YMMV. |
