Is there a company that offers...
A service to "matte" a dial?
I've got a project 16610 that is mostly complete but would love to have a matte dial for it. 16800 dials are out there but have no lume, so I was wondering if I snagged another 16610 dial if I could send it somewhere to get a matte finish on it. Would love to take the sheen off the dial and it have less "pop" than it does now. My CWC and 2254 are much more legible and don't have the sheen the Sub does. Next to my CWC for reference. If not I'll be fine and get on with life but never hurts to ask if I'm throwing money into the hole. |

You could have a gloss dial refinished but it will be a complete reprint of the text printed on it.
Or...first consider a clear coat airbrush using a matte acrylic (after removing all the WG plots & logo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

That is such a good idea if all else fails I love problem solving. That’s why I used to love to “modify” cars. Sometimes you just have to think outside the box. Have a good one! |

I thought I was the only one who watches too much YouTube. They even got me to sign up for premium.

Tbf the Bark and Jack antics were with a £100 watch not a Rolex, I don't think Adrian is the worst by a long shot. |

It's no fun just to think what if. Making it mine is 1/2 the fun. I've said it on here before I'd love some cool sterile dial model Sub (think 5517 but sterile) - I enjoy Rolex for the history and the simple fact they were the pioneering force behind professional / tool watches when it comes to divers. Folks bought em cause they were mechanically sound and up to the demanding environment. Marketing took off from there... Could care less about the cost / statement / bling that a lot of folks buy a Rolex for, in fact that is one of the biggest turn offs for me about the brand. I just wish I could of been in a position financially when you could get a used Sub for reasonable prices. I'd have several projects going Quote:
Only reason I've not jumped on an auto already is that my Omega 2254 shares the same space and I already have the quartz (more true to legit issue). Get one! |

I'm considering a CWC. Really like this watch. My only problem is the standard nato strap that bothers the hell out of me. I'd have to go with a leather option they have but I'm not sure yet.

Maybe you can find a 16800 dial with some messed up lume for cheap and then have it relumed.

CWC is really nice! What’s the exact model? I haven’t seen one with a pip. Great collection!

https://www.cwcwatch.com/collections...y-divers-watch MKII Case for reference https://www.cwcwatch.com/collections...rs-watch-matte I re-profiled the crown guards to be more like the original issue (not as prominent) and the end result is the ultimate beater. Expensive for a quartz but in the end I'd do it over 100%. It's a superb grab n go watch. Thank you! Doing so made the 16610 work for me as I despise the cyclops. It wears like a slightly larger 14060M, I get the bonus of having a date, and SEL. The sides were beat to hell and camfers gone so I went the next step and brushed both sides and I'm pleased with the toned down look. I'm very very pleased with where it sits today and has made wearing the watch far more enjoyable than a vanilla 16610. I got it for a song and told Rik (where I got it) it was going to be a long term project / EDC watch for me. Should the need arise it can be restored to new by Mike @Rolliworks or the team at LAWW. That said I'm keeping this beast for the long haul. And therein lies the beauty. I've only had one comment on it in the wild and it was by a guy wearing a Grand Seiko. It is a WIS watch 100% no doubt about it. |

You have excellent taste! My CWC is the standard with C3 lume and sapphire. I love the pared-down simplicity. |

I wish CWC would do the C3 version of the 1983, hell make it the standard as I prefer the C3 to the faux patina, but that fat minute hand sent me over the edge and I jumped on in! Thank you sir! |
