'He's Just Not That Into You'

If you're one of those "I'll decide myself if I want to see this movie" people - exit the thread immediately. The rest - read on......

.....and I may be able to save you 2.25 hours of your life. Before all you guys start jumping on me for going to see a chick-flick, lay off. My wife is 7 months pregnant and I am at her service. Besides, it has an all-star case including Scarlett Johannsen AND Jernnifer Aniston! Double-RRRRRROW! Oh, and Ben Affleck, Justin Long, and Drew Barrymore are also in it.

To make the long story short, it was over 2 hours of stereotypes - psychotic, insecure women obsessing over when a guy will call, predictably - cheating husbands, 'no longer fun' wives', guys who are deathly afraid of the word 'marriage'.... Cookie-cutter characters, predictable dialogue, events you can see coming from a mile away, star-studded cast in terrible roles. All of the funniest parts are seen on the previews (there are, like, three moments). And the main character, Gigi, made me want to slap some sense into her. Now I know some of you will say - what makes you qualified to comment on a girlie flick? Well, my wife agreed 100% and absolutely hated this movie. We both walked out of there thinking we could have spent that time differently. In my humble opinion - this movie does not deserve a DVD viewing, let alone one at the movie theater.

Oh, bummer. It looked kind of funny, but not surprised that it tanked.

Thanks for the review Mosco. I am a big believer in not wasting time watching idiotic movies. I'll scratch that one off my list.

It was better than I thought it would be, but way too chick-flicky for me. But it was better than Confessions of a Shopaholic, which really disappointed me.

Oh no, was Confessions that bad Ashley? I read all THREE (or was it four?) of the books in the series and loved them! Sometimes a book just doesn't translate well into a movie....

I think the money I've spent on my home theater has already been recouped by not going to the movies to see crap. While I'll admit there've been a few that would have been nice to have been nice to have seen on the big screen, it's been way more than offset by the junk I've turned off in 30min.

I read all four too, Karis, and absolutely adored the series. I was SO excited about the movie, and it really let me down. I hated who they had cast for Suze and a few others, and they changed a lot of stuff from the books. I also hated that the actress who plays Becky is British, and in the book it takes place there, but in the movie she has to use an American accent because it took place over there.
And the scarf was green instead of blue!

Wait, are you saying that Becky had an American accent in the movie and the movie takes place in the US?????

Yep. Even though the actress is actually British.

Hmmm, I'm also a bit surprised it didn't live up to expectations. I hate it when I go see a movie and realize that all the good parts were in the previews!

This is not at all the kind of movie I tend to like, but I must say it entertained me. I expected it to be terrible, and after having sat through "Echelon Conspiracy" and "The International" earlier in the week, I didn't hate this one so much. How's that for an endorsement?

I wouldn't care if my wife was 12 months pregnant.....NO WAY. Besides I have this rule about seeing movies with Ben Affleck in them. Thanks for the heads up and good luck with the baby.

Obviously, you never a) had a wife or b)been around a pregnant woman that you care about, otherwise you wouldn't be so sure

And it is 'babies' - we are having twins, girl and a boy, I'm scared less Thanks for the warm wishes, I'll need them!

Choice "A" is not correct. Now, as far as choice b, WE have decided to remain Kidless so that I won't have to go see movies like this EVER....

Congrats to you and yours on the twin babies I wish you all the best. I will guess that this will make three kids for you now, correct? Me thinks your time on TRF will be diminished a little bit in the future..

I wish - the twins makes it four! I have a 13-year old little she-devil from a previous relationship... Love her, but MAN, she drives me nuts!

I normally have the same policy, but I actually thought that Ben Affleck was likable for once. That was the biggest surprise of the movie for me, that I actually enjoyed him in it.
