Is it possible to more drawn to the DJ than the DD?

From an aesthetics perspective alone, there's something about the 36mm Datejust that always calls to me. I own a 36mm YG DD as well, but for some reason, I actually think the DJ has MORE wrist presence than the DD.

Weird, right? Do you own both watches? Have any of you felt this, as well?

I own both in 36, I have to disagree. The Prez is the Alpha male in my collection

I think a DD, particularly in YG or RG, has far greater wrist presence than a DJ. I've owned both YG and RG Day Dates and believe me, many people noticed them. I no longer own either DD, partly because they received too much unwanted attention. These days I get more pleasure per buck out of a DJ than a DD.

I have two DJ’s and love both of them, my daily watch is a DJ. I do have a YG DD but with a leather band so it’s not too flashy as a dress watch! I learn towards the DJ!

I prefer the cleaner dial of the DJ. But that’s me

I think the DD bracelet is the best part of all

The DayDate is a superior watch , not sure how you can be more drawn to a DJ unless you you financially couldn't pull off a DD36/40 and went with the DJ36. The bracelet alone is arguable the best in the industry and the newer movement is pretty flawless.

Strangely enough sometimes it's not about the money but personal taste that makes a person prefer one watch over a much more expensive one.

Apart from the President bracelet, I also prefer the simplicity of the DJ !

I don't own the DD but I do have a DJ41.

I can see how the DJ might be more appealing to some, but to be honest, I think the DD is the ultimate Rolex. So answer the question in the post, no.

I have asked myself many times if I really "need" a DD, given my DJ. Each time the answer comes back, yes.

I’m becoming more drawn to the 36mm Datejust. Just such a classic piece. Watched someone grab themselves a bargain on eBay yesterday. 4 month old 36mm Datejust with white gold fluted bezel on oyster bracelet with silver baton dial. Winning bid was £4251.00 Bought in Paris in June by original owner/seller. I was so tempted but would have compromised funds for the watch I am waiting for next.

Both the DJ and DD are fantastic watches. DD is a bit of a grail watch for a lot of folks.

I have an old DJ TT in Rose gold and its just such a comfy watch, design is iconic and looks fab IMHO.

As you have both OP your in a good position to decide.

DD YG President bracelet has always been one of my hope to have someday watch, however been looking at WG examples recently and they look great. Will get round to trying on a DD someday and try and decide.

I have owned a couple of DJ (16233, 16234, 116200, 116264) before and currently own a WG DD 18239. Comparing flutted vs flutted (16234 vs 18239) the DD stand out more, mainly because of the president band

They look quite similar. Ignoring for a moment that the DD has the day of the week, the comparison is really down to a jubilee vs president (assuming here that both have a fluted bezel). I really like the jubilee bracelet so for the price the datejust has more bang for your buck value. I mean you can pick up a two tone fluted for under £10k.

I have always liked the dial much more on the DJ; however, the bracelet is what makes the DD the "DD".

I'm sorry, but there isn't a DJ in the world that can beat this.

Beautiful watch, but it looks a bit too big on your wrist.

Better for you? Angles can make a difference.

General rule is lugs shouldn't extend over the wrist, which it doesn't for me. Ultimately doesn't matter because it's my watch, and I wear what I want.

I couldn't agree more. I would never consider making a critical statement with regards to a choice someone else made. The world is full of negativity, so best to ignore the negative and focus on the nice things in life, like enjoying this hobby.

That looks better, close ups always appear bigger. I love my DJ41, it's a keeper and I'm content for now. From pics I'm liking the DD40 WG blue roman or white for myself, maybe one day. I'd also like to see the WG silver roman quadrant dial in person that one really has my imagination going because It seems pics dont it justice and doesn't show the true reflection of the quadrants pattern. I'm not sure if a member here owns one but some feedback and a sunny wrist shot would be cool to see.
