Can I pull off a 116655?

Basically, what the title says. I'm early 30s, work in an office, and have a collection of various sport, dress, and complication watches, including two 5-digit Rolexes (16710 and 14060). I wear these to work and on the weekend (i.e., dressier and more casual attire). The "blingiest" piece I own is an Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial (such because of the PCLs and glossy ceramic bezel), and then my only solid gold piece is a Patek 3796R.

In the last year or so, I've found myself drawn to the 116655, but two things keep putting me off: (1) the price, which I think is a bit higher than it should be for the piece; and (2) the optics. Basically, assuming that I can find it for a price that is agreeable (it wouldn't bankrupt me, but it would be the most I've ever spent on a watch), I'm wondering if I can "pull it off" -- in other words, given the other pieces in my collection and my day-to-day life, would this work? Or would it be too flashy/attention-grabbing/out of place? I've tried it on, and keep wrestling with this question.

Hit me with your wisdom, TRF!

I'm mid 30's and have one, work in an office and dress very casually and don't have any issues (other people may disagree ). It kind of flies under the radar, but other times is kind of flashy, but I like that combination.

Get it

You have two Rolexes already so you are already out, this is about as sedate a PM as you can get so wouldn't make that much difference, you're already the Rolex office guy, if there isn't a bigger fish already in this pond.

With the oysterflex, I imagine it would mostly fly under the radar. In fact without close inspection, most non watch folks would probably just assume it was a random fashion brand of some sort.

In short, go for it if it tickles your fancy. Life is too short to not enjoy yourself when you can.

You totally can wear it everyday. The black strap and black insert reduce the flash/attention compared to a solid gold bracelet PM. I think this can be worn in an office. Now wearing a solid gold Sub or Skydweller....id say that might be asking for too much attention. But the 116655 is definitely more stealthy. I think its more under the radar then the Daytona on strap. And this is all from an office/work focus. Wearing this outside of work.....no problem at all.

Price- I know these are hard set around the 21k mark...idk why. Every PM on strap tends to dip in price, except for this one. Every AD ive visited always had a 116655 in the case. I think you could get a discount in the AD as well as below the 21k mark here on the RF.

Have you tried it on? The dial is really nice, matte finish. The feel is very nice on the wrist. Very comfortable. Heck id wear one swimming or washing the car.

I love the YM's and think this is very cool watch.

Watch this youtube video. He has the 116655....it makes me want one now when i watch this video lol

I own a 116655, and feel that it is the Best looking Rolex in the professional line!

Yes you can rock it. I would get it now before others find out how awesome it is and prices go up

I think these things can be over thought at times...most any watch can be worn in most any setting. I have a friend who bought this exact watch about 6 months ago and uses it as his weekend watch to wear with “sweats”. He finds it very casual due to the rubber. All perspective

Beautiful watch and way cheaper than an Oysterflex Daytona. I'd say go full yolo on it

Agree with the above comments...but I would think about waiting for the 126655 at this point. The glide lock would be a game changer for me.

I looked at this very watch (new) at two different AD's this weekend. I had kind of forgotten about it, but it occurred to me that it has many features I like (from other watches) all rolled into one:

- rubber strap
- precious metal (I happen to be partial to everose)
- 40 mm oyster case
- cyclops
- red lettering
- awesome YM bezel

Now, what's interesting is that the MSRP was $24,xxx, but on Rolex's website it's listed as $26,xxx. Not sure what to make of that.

The one you saw was a 116655 (just about 25k iirc). The one on the Rolex site is now a 126655 and it has gone up in price from the 116655. 126655's haven't really been rolled out completely yet from what it seems.

I dont’t think there should be any pulling off -issues with this one.
That’s exactly why it will be my next Rolex purchase (well, could also be 126655)

This is a great piece that is really easy to wear. I keep coming back to it myself. As another poster stated, it's sedate. Not too blingy but has that RG "pop" to it behind the ceramic bezel. Great piece.

99.9% wont notice it and it’s not flashy, a guy who was at a wedding I was shooting had one on, I just admit it did look like a women’s watch on him, maybe because his wife was wearing a ss Rolex, funny how that works

I love mine.

Regularly wear a T-shirt to the office. And I wear this watch often. It’s a superb piece. Puzzles me why some think it should cost less. The bezel alone is a work of art. It’s a hell of a watch.

It’s matte bezel and a new technology/aesthetic for the brand

In terms of price it is up there as far as MSRPs go
Don’t know if it’s “too much” or “not enough” as the industry is bonkers these days

For sure, more d bags with subs than anything else, the bag makes the douch not the watch

There are a lot of people with blingy (but gawdy) watches from the likes of Michael Kors and others, but a worthless. Don’t worry about they color of the metal.

A 116655 is about as muted of a gold watch as you can get, and I really like that watch, but really think it needs a Glidelock or at least an EasyLink, which is does not have. For that reason, if you really want that watch, I’d be waiting for a 126655, but you’ll be waiting a while, because I have not seen any come out yet.

Just visit Tourneau in Pentagon City yesterday and they have a brand new 116655 on display, but was turned off by the lack of bracelet adjustment, which puts a LOT on the Oysterflex sizing to be perfect and for the person wearing not to have wrist swelling like I have. So, that watch would not be good for me.

Also, I worry a little about this watch’s long term value ... especially if you aren’t buying out of true love.

Yolo, you should rock this one at work. The oysterflex braclet is pretty low key.
