BLRO dealer allocation and update on my order

Hey all.

I know these threads interest some so though I'd post. I've been extremely lucky and managed to get on a list (was told approx 6 months) for a BLRO. I'm lucky because I have zero history and I don't have the disposable income to be a whale for any dealer. We had a great initial discussion and I left with a promise of a watch in 6 months.

The dealer has asked me not to disclose who or where they are, but they do get a lot of significant spenders in this store.

Anyway I'm on track to be collecting at some point in Jan 2020.

He did share that since our initial conversation (late June) they have only had 2 BLROs come through the door.

He genuinely has no reason to lie to me, he owes me nothing, but does this sound right?

Hatton gardens has them everywhere, hard to believe dealer allocation would be so low

If he keeps his word and sells to you as someone without spend history, you’ve been extremely lucky

Having the same experience with my local Rolex Boutique. Zero history yet everything I asked for was delivered within less than 2 months for each.

Doesn’t count if your first two watches ordered were platinum

That's identical to what my AD told me: 2 this year so far. Been waiting since Basel 2018 and no end in sight. They're either all lying, or all thelling the truth

Sounds like you'll get it. They have no reason to lie. Hope nothing interferes with the eta. Pay a visit now and then...

Hi, I’m new here, but I recently also got on a list at my local AD for a BLRO.

I’m also in the same situation as you. Not a high roller and have zero history with them as well. My previous AD is no longer in business and I told them that so hopefully they know I’m not a flipper.

They were very nice and we talked a lot about the lack of stock, etc. I’m hopeful they will call as she made a point to tell me, when they do call, I’ll need to come ASAP to get it. I said no problem!

We shall see.

Seems right. I was at an AD a couple weeks ago; she mentioned they weren’t expecting to receive anymore stainless steel until the new year.

That's amazingly good luck in the current market. Hopefully your SA is a straight-shooter. Somehow I doubt ADs are only getting 2 BLROs a year imho. I've been waiting since early 2018 like many folks. I still think the ADs keep the goodies in the safe out back, but that's not news. Good luck. Cheers!

It’d be a bit surprising given the conditions you highlighted on top of you being in the UK to get one in 6 months but you never know. Cautiously optimistic is probably the best approach.

We had a connection, I'm involved in a charity and a large sporting event he is passionate about so lucky I spoke to him really.

It's just hard to believe so few watches are passing through the dealership.

How do you know you’re actually on the “list”? Did you see him write your name on the paper notepad? So many lists, so little time

Just a data point but I got the 2nd BLRO my very small AD had ever received. 6 weeks ago.

Good luck!

I believe a low volume dealer would only get two per year. I’ve actually only seen one in real life myself. And i look at wrists.

Wow, if the AD only received two BLRO in the year that would indicate the BLRO is produced in small numbers. Prices seem to be dipping slightly on the secondary market, may be time to buy, or wait. Please keep us posted.

If any Rolex watch is produced in small numbers ask yourself why are there virtually hundreds possible thousands including BLRO,Daytona, and all the so called hard to get on the grey market at crazy prices.

I was in your shoes. AD said that it'd take about half a year, maybe just under. They kept kicking back the timeline 4-5 months at a time. It's been about 1.5 years on the waitlist and I don't see an end in sight.

In retrospect, the most foolish thing I did was take their kindness as a signal that they were being honest. I'm not sure they were. In that time, a couple lifetime achievements came and went. Thankfully I began exploring other options and was able to get what I wanted in a waaaaaaaaaay timelier manner. I had to learn the hard way that being on a waitlist is one thing, but moving up the waitlist is an entirely different manner.

OP, I'm pulling for you. Maybe your AD is honest and will deliver. Speaking from experience, though, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I dropped by my local AD earlier this week and they told me there are no lists actually and nothing can be “ordered.” Rather they get the inventory shipped to them by Rolex and the SA will call their regular clients who previously expressed interest. I have no idea if this is accurate but I plan to stay visible and drop by regularly to stay top of mind and maybe get lucky. I’m not a whale but have bought DJs and a ton of jewelry for the wifey at my AD. My expectations are I may have to wait a year or more and I’m okay with that. It’s just a watch, not life.
