Too small or just right?

Got an unworn 15450 after realizing the 15400 is just too big for my 6.5" wrist (2.33" across). Nothing was available at the AD so I took my chances. Now having tried it on, my wife and I get the feeling the piece wears a bit small for an everyday sports watch. It looks so different from different distances making it hard to look at other people's wrist shots. Seems from a distance you get a much better sense for real proportion. The dial really shrinks. Option is to trade in this unworn piece for a used 15300 without the benefit of trying it on. Any thoughts on appearance?

I think it looks fine. The 15450 has the conservative and understated look on your wrist. It fits perfectly, but you could go a little larger and still be fine. The 15300 would work just as well, but a bit bolder if you prefer.

I’m torn and shared the same feelings as you when I tried on the 15450. It still looks great on you, but I’d have to imagine a 15300 would be perfect. Go with your gut. Certainly that dial IMHO is one argument in favor of sticking with your 15450.

Owned the 15450 blue dial and sold it. It felt too small, mostly b/c of the bracelet, on my 6.5" wrist. Something just felt 'off' and i couldn't bond with it like I expected to. But others with similar wrists love it and make it their daily.
If it feels right to you, keep it.

Too small IMO. If you are already having those thoughts, they won't dissipate. Had the same thing happen with me when I purchased my RM005, thought it was too small, upgraded to the RM010 and was much happier.

Appears to fit fine. But if it bothers you, go for a change. A black or blue dial might also look nice.

Thank you everyone for your honest opinions. As I suspected, the size rides the fence between perfect and two small as evident in what seems an even split in opinions. The case is perfect. It's the dial that seems small. I need to reflect a bit on this. If I can still return my watch to the seller, it will cost a couple grand more to move up and the watch won't be new or have papers. All that without even being able to try it on. A tough call indeed.

Similiar thoughts on it being too small. I have a 7" wrist and I have the exact same opinions about it as you. Really have to try it out in person and view it at different distances and angles to truly appreciate if it fits your wrist's size. Hope you manage to find a decent alternative!

Personally I think it looks great on you, but I also tend to gravitate towards smaller sizes with a similar wrist size as you. I don't think this case is any different to the massive amount of people in this world who daily wear a dj36. I think the 15450 looks and feels like something right in between a dj36 and a sub, aka a perfect daily wear size for much of the population.

I've said this many times on 15450 threads that after trying one in person the dial feels way too small. Not sure why people keep saying it isn't when they haven't tried on the watch in person. Like you said, in closer up shots it looks fine, but further away the proportions are off and dial looks very small. AP should have decreased the bezel size when they made this watch, and the thickness as well, but instead the whole thing just feels lazy. If it has a thinner bezel that was proportional to the watch size and thus a bigger dial, this watch would have been perfect.

Too small, as it is a female's watch predominantly. I'd suggest you trade towards a 15202 or 15300 or back to 15400.

Looks pretty Ok but if you feel it is too small go for the 15300, that will likely be the Goldilocks version in you case.

I would try the 15300 and see what you think. Was the 15400 definitely too big? Was it sized right and viewed from a similar distance the 15450 shot above or just put on your wrist in a shop? Makes a huge difference as otherwise it hangs off the wrist due to the rigidity of the end links.

End of the day I think it comes down to preferred style. The 15450 looks fine on your wrist if you want a more sleek, elegant, dressier profile (yes, I know it's a sports watch, but still...) Whereas the 39/41mm will be a little bolder.

I'm in the same spot as you. The 15400 is a spot too big, with the flared lugs encroaching on the edge of my wrists and not quite sitting right.

I think a 37mm is a touch too small and even the jumbo since it's so thin doesnt quite look right.

I would encourage find a GTG or local Grey dealer where you might be able to try a 39 mm on or even scampering over to an AP boutique to see if they have a 39mm chrono to try on (unlikely but worth the effort). Try before you buy blind IMO.

I was seriously considering a 15450 as well but I just didn’t like the proportions of the bezel thickness to the dial size and the overall thickness of the case. I had the chance to try on a 15300 in person and I was immediately sold on the proportions and size. I got it about a month ago and I’m loving it so far!
