Rent a Rolex

Never heard of this. I dont like the idea of renting things for the most part, and certainly not a Rolex or other high end watch. Would any of you guys or gals consider this?

Rent a Rolex

Nope. Saw this already. According to them it’s more of a “social sharing club”. I can just imagine how twisted the contract of this scam would be. n:

But hey, they do let you keep the pouche

I actually thought about this years ago. When I was younger and living at home when I bought a new watch I would tell my parents I had joined “The Watch of The Month Club”
Worked for about a year and

I didn't watch the video, but I can only imagine. However, logically speaking you can create your own independent watch rental company in the form of a redistribution of your investment.

What I mean is you buy a USED watch for X, wear it for however long, and sell it for same price you bought it for or slightly less, then do that over and over with a new watch. Any loss is just "rental" fee.

I personally couldn't do it because every watch I buy I keep, but someone with more willpower can wear a different watch every month for minimal fee. Probably less then rental company.

I'll catch this later when I can. First thought, dumb. Second thought, hmm, if I could rent a VCO maybe l would, I've been thinking about purchasing but there's nowhere around me to even see one and it's an expensive piece for me to buy without a try.

The only rationale I could have for doing this would be to test a watch out before I shelled out the cash for it. After owning and wearing a number of watches over the years though, I have a pretty good idea of whether or not I am going to like a watch in the long run though

This is the only rationale reason why I could see someone considering doing this.

For the same reason I would not rent an exotic car: I would be so worried about scratching it I could not enjoy it.

No, I don't like leasing a car either.

Thinking about it, the ONLY way I could justify this would be for a VERY short term , say a couple of weeks for a model I was on the fence for. Coming from the car business, customers have done this with rental cars prior to buying one.

Are people leasing cars or renting condos pretending they own them?

I was never good at returning moving rentals. I’m sure I would be even worse about returning watches, and the penalties/fees would be worse.

I usually don't mind Producer Michael's content but this video is a total bust. The "watch guru" in this video is clearly a tool and the idea is preposterous.

If you can't put a pure luxury jewelry item on a debit card right now, you shouldn't have it/buy it/rent it. JMO.

Of course none of us would ever do such a thing....yeah right.

Every day people rationalize paying $16k for a $9k GMT to get it right now instead of next year. Life is short...time is money...and all the other platitudes.

Financially they are renting a watch for a year at $500/mo and then buying it at full retail.

I think it's actually a very smart business plan. It's not for me but I don't doubt for a second there are plenty out there who would become subscribers. I buy my vehicles new because I keep them.beyond the initial steep depreciation years. If I was flipping them every 2-4 years I'd buy used or lease them.

For the fickle watch guy who likes variety he would lose pretty big on most brands...why not go this route? Again...not for me but I don't think its such a crazy approach.
